Wii-U thoughts so far
Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
Having an actual supply in retail stores is a great thing. Had no problem buying a Wii U. Tons in stock.
Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
I'm just saying that quotingt he 57,000 January sales doesn't sum up the whole thing. It sold 3 million, that suggests to me that people are confident in the technology. January numbers I think suggest the problem is lack of software. The early adopters showed up, I think the public likes the console, they like the price point, they just don't see a reason to buy it yet.

That sounds about right to me as well.
There's no reason to worry about the WiiU right now. If in November and December it's not selling, then they have a problem.
But I think Nintendo is going to fight hard to make sure that doesn't happen.

But the 360 and PS3 were sold at a higher price point didnt they? I did a quick inflation calculation , it appears that the 360 was sold at $460 in today's money back in 2005 , while the Wii U is sold at a $100 less , $368 today .isiolia wrote:It's sold fewer than a million in the US - still better than the 360 or PS3, but a major difference (to me) is that you can go pick up a Wii U if you want one. That was not the case with most of the more recent console launches.Jamisonia wrote: That doesn't sum up the whole thing. Its sold around 3 million units which is further along at this point than many other consoles at this point in their lifespan. The January numbers are very poor, not the numbers as a whole.
I wanted to say that Wii U has a great sales of 3 million , but then I remembered that the Saturn reached almost 10m and it was still considered a flop.
It will be hard to guess if the Wii U will be successful or not only time will tell. I am not sure how Nintendo will lure players as I for one do not care any more for another Zelda or Mario title. I still stand next to my opinion that is hated by many in this forum , Nintendo is falling back with weak games lineup compared to Microsoft/Sony/PC and the only reason Wii sold so much is its extremely low price ($250) and the extremely new innovative novelty of moving your hands and the cursor on screen will more along with you.
no flaming or trolling, just discussing videogames.

Wii-U doesn't have many must have games coming out this year, much less exclusives. The new expansion to Monster Hunter 3 and Pikmin 3 are about it.
Sales will likely be relatively daft all year in less Monster Hunter takes off in a big way in the States.
Wii-U doesn't have a lot of must have software lined up in till 2014, so I won't be surprised if the sales are low.
I think the PS4 and new Xbox console will likely outshine the Wii-U as they did the Wii (yes, I know the Wii sold more). The Wii-U's time to strike was before the rest of the new consoles come and out shine it graphically, and it seems to be dropping the ball since barely any worth wild Ips have been developed yet.

I picked up $35 in WiiU e-shop dollars. Any recommendations? Anything with really strong co-op?

Trine 2 is pretty much made for co-op.retrosportsgamer wrote:I picked up $35 in WiiU e-shop dollars. Any recommendations? Anything with really strong co-op?

was there any console in history that started slow (as in boring) then picked up and became success?Violent By Design wrote:Wii-U doesn't have many must have games coming out this year, much less exclusives. The new expansion to Monster Hunter 3 and Pikmin 3 are about it.

I know usually the opposite happens , where a new console is out and everyone is crazy about it with strong sales first couple of months then it falls down. This is true for Dreamcast and Saturn I believe.
