I see there are at least 3 Ys games on the PSP...and I have yet to play any Ys game (on any system). Which do you recommend I start with:

Ys: The Oath in Felghana
Ys: The Ark of Napishtim
Ys Seven

Ys Seven. Can't go wrong there. It's exclusive to the PSP as far as I know. Felghana is a retelling of Ys 3 in the style of Ys Seven. I believe there is also Ys Origin 1 and 2 or something like that. I haven't played that one yet. Napishtim is based on the PS2 version and is a very early PSP game and as a result didn't quite live up. But all ones released by XSeed are great.

Haha yeah... if you wanted to play the Ys PSP games - start with I & II, then go to the Oath in Felghana (this is a remake of III), then The Ark of Napishtim (this is part VI, and again I recommend the PS2 version over PSP), and then Seven.

Obviously you'll have to look to others systems for parts IV and V.

I don't think playing them in order is necessary. But Seven is definitely the best one on the PSP. Knowledge of previous Ys games is not required for any of them, really. All you need to know is Adol has red hair ad he likes to defeat evil. Sometimes his friend Dogi is around but not always. In Seven he's a playable character.

I would go for the limited release of Ys I & II Chronicles for the soundtrack alone. So amazing.

This past summer I played the Ys games in order (The Ark of Napishtim I played in the PS2 and skipped the psp version all together). I though the series was extremely fun and playing them in order gave me some insight into the series and build up to Ys Seven. All the games are on the short side.

One game that caught me off guard on the PSP that I believe is one of my personal hidden gems was Pangya Fantasy Golf.

Do you mean all the Ys games or just the Ys PSP/PS2 games (ie: did you play Ys IV and V)?

Just the ones that I played this past summer was Ys Chronicles I & II, Ys: The Oath in Felghana, Ys: The Ark of Napishtim (PS2 version), and Ys Seven (in that order).

Twenty years ago I played Ys III: Wanderers from Ys on the SNES.

I have not played either version of Ys IV Mask of the Sun or Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys. I have not played Ys V: Lost Kefin, Kingdom of Sand (on PS2) or the original Ys V: Ushinawareta Suna no Miyako Kefin (on SNES).

So I meant to say is I have played the Ys games this past summer that was easily and readily attanable to me on the hardware that I posess. However the ones that I did play I did have a good time with them and they were not as long as The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky which I thought was an excellent game.

I hope that clears up any misunderstanding that I caused.
