Wal-Mart certainly is the source of a lot of stereotypes, but really, they're just the most blatant symbol of what's happening across almost every retail industry. Target, for example, is only slightly better. K-Mart might not even be around much longer but I'm pretty sure they don't improve on the model much.

Lowest common denominator retail. If you swear off Wal-Mart, do it symbolically, but not rationally, because to be truly rational you have to swear off a great many stores that all do essentially the same thing (including all the competitors like Target). You will quickly run out of places to shop.

I know a lot of people don't like Walmart. I, on the other hand, don't care. Its not nearly as bad as people make it out. (Just don't buy clothes there. I always assumed that was a given...)

2 AM. A Saturday night. Sitting in the only line open. A man walks into the store wearing a full blown Knight/Crusader costume, sword and all, still wearing his shield. He's holding his stomach, which is bleeding. Goes into the back of the store, grabs some stuff. He returns with a 12 pack of Pearl (Texas only beer), and two rolls of duct tape (Zebra pint and neon green).

He went through the line with no questions asked, we hung around long enough to awkwardly watch him walk out of their, leaving a slight blood trail as he went.

I'll spend like an hour on one section of the store trying to clean it up only to come back towards the end of my shift and find it a complete wreck again.

Nice thread!

I went into walmart with the gf, she needed some stuff, I normally don't frequent the place. About ten steps into the building I see a large number of people crowing around what turns out to be a considerably overweight woman, writhing around on the floor near McDonalds (I assume everyone has Mc D's in their Walmart?), yelling out complete nonsense, and sweating profusely. All the while, two men are kneeling down beside her, attempting to dab her sweat, using Walmart's hand towels from a near by end-cap...

I looked on for about 30 seconds, about that point medics were casually strolling in, and proceeded to the electronics department.

This also reminds me that a couple of years ago, I watched a woman, about 40 and obviously VERY high on some substance, try to fistfight two Target security guards after she walked out with her jacket stuffed with $5 DVDs.. Needless to say, it didn't end well for her.

I'm sure I've got plenty of stuff, but I'm kinda drawing a blank right now.

If I run into anything interesting though, I'll post it here.

I'm wearing wal-mart jeans right now. Had them a couple years. They seem to be lasting as well as any other jeans I've bought.
