Depending on the dashboard you have installed, you can change it in the config menu. Unleashx/xbox media center allow you to do this. I'm not sure on any others tbh. UnleashX or xbox media center are the best dashboards anyway.

You need a crossover cable if you are going directly from the computer to the xbox

Here is a great tutorial for FTPing

Code: Select all

Also if you use the xbmc dash (HIGHLY recommended!) you can burn discs with emulators, video, music, that can be tranfered through a windows(kinda) like interface that's extremely easy. This is how I have my bedroom media center set up and it's probably the best investment I've ever made!

thanks for the link neo...

if i go the disc burning route is there anything special i need to do to either the files or the xbox? or do i just burn the files onto a disc and insert it in the xbox? does it matter if you use cd or dvd? +/-?

No problem!

When I burn my discs I usually just use dvd+r. In xbmc click the left stick in and select "Favorites" or "My Favorites" then choose "File Manager" and it will bring up a menu that shows your hard drive space and root files in two identical columns. When your DVD is inserted go to that in either column and select it and it will show the contents of the disc, Now in the other column choose where you want to add the files on your system go back to the dvd contents and select the file/s you want to copy with the clear(white) button and you will get the option for "copy folder".

It's a LOT simpler than my confusing directions  . If you cannot get it to work I will take pictures to show you step by step.
