But oh god the sound on the Smash Pack is so awful!

Gonna play through the others? I always make it a point to beat S3&K every year.

The sound leaves a lot to be desired -- as do most Genesis emulators prior to Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection on 360/PS3.

But that said, the sound on Sonic is actually pretty damn good compared to a lot of the other games on the Smash Pack.

I've never beaten S3 or S&K. But I'm holding off until I can find a copy of Sonic Jam on Saturn for now.

I lost count of how many times I played Sonic & Knuckles after I bought it when I was a kid. The number is probably ridiculous. It's rare to find a game TODAY that I want to play that many times

FINALLY. This was my third attempt this year at beating Sonic. I can always breeze through early levels, but by the last few I'm pulling my hair out. But I did it! This is the first time I've done it since the early 90's, so it feels awesome haha. And I must say that playing it on DC (Sega Smash Pack) through VGA looks amazing. Seriously amazing. Although I probably consider Sonic CD my favorite, this is a close contender. Which is kind of funny. There's so many damn water levels. I hate that gimmick of searching for air bubbles. But what can I say? Even those frustrating levels are so well designed that it's always fun to come back to.

Time to finish PSII!!!!

I can usually clear Ninja Gaiden in a half hour. It's the second to last boss that sometimes makes me wave the white flag. But if you have no problems with beating Bloody Malth (duck and slash like crazy), stick with it for the last level(s).

The special stages can be frustrating at first, but after some repetition you'll know then like the back of your hand.

However, congrats on beating Sonic. Isn't the music in Star Hill perfectly soothing?

I just earned my Golden Wings in Pilotwings. It almost cost me a broken controller or a kicked in TV screen. Man, the skydiving landings drove me crazy.

I was actually able to take down Malth (My method was more of a brute-force approach, just tried to get to him with full health and kill him as fast as possible).

That damn 6-2 section though... I only managed to get past it once. So, of course, I wasn't able to take down the last boss on my first try... which brought me back to 6-1

I'm almost 100% positive the game GIVES you full health when facing Malth. I slash away every time I face him.

6-2 is the green section with all the flying star throwing ninjas, isn't it? 6-3 isn't a piece of cake either. Getting sent back to 6-1 is the pits, but it does allow you to get the jump/slash which makes 6-2 a ton easier. If you've played the game as many times as I have, you'll know exactly what power ups each "lamp" holds. Power-up your jump/slash as much as possible and use sparingly. Try to beat the first last boss without losing any power, and the other last bosses aren't that bad. But if the first last boss gets ya, it's a chore to try to get back into the game.

Keep on keeping on man. It's frustrating, but not impossible.
