From what we've read, the game is imitating the NES assets, but it's not really using the original engine in any way. I don't see this coming to NES in any decent form.

I wouldn't be shocked if someone hacked a Mega Man 2 (or 3) ROM to use Mega Man 9 enemies and maps. I don't know how feasable it is, but since they're trying to keep the Mega Man 1-3 style gameplay, it's not like they're doing any massive engine changes that the NES hardware can't handle.

Didn't feel like making a new topic for this:

Two days away for Wii owners. I'm curious to see other people's impressions

Nintendo fans will be able to snag the game this Monday, September 22, via the Wii's downloadable gaming service. PlayStation 3 owners will see MM9 on September 25, while Xbox 360 gamers will have to wait until October 1.
As a Nintendo fan, awesome. We get it first, as we should. Classic Mega Man is a Nintendo property.

As a PS3 owner who's still annoyed I have to wait amother month for Rock Band 2, I'm overjoyed that the 360 gets it last.
