Yeah, I enjoyed it for the most part - but it isn't one of my favorite FF games or 16-bit RPGs. It is certainly worth playing, though, despite some grindy bullshit towards the end.o.pwuaioc wrote:Really?dsheinem wrote:PSP games I have most enjoyed:

Re: Finally Got a PSP! Now What?
Thanks for all the suggestions.
Signed up for Clash of Heroes 2. I hadn't heard of that series, but it looks cool from everything from the website, and i love the idea of supporting guys from the former working designs.
I think im going to try and go for a 8gb card. Has anyone had success with using a micro sd card with a pro duo adapter? Those cards seem far cheaper even when combined with the adapter.
For those of your that suggested screen protectors, what brand to you recommend?

CFW 6.60, buy the easy to find and Triple A titles, pirate the ones you cant find...
Also, i hate Screen Protectors, just dont carry the damn thing in your pocket, have a M2 Duo Adaptor with a 2GB M2 card, works fine, but no storage. A game i suggest is:
Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice, good Arcade style racer with shooting and action...
Get these Emulators:
gpSP Kai
Master Boy
Nester J
PicoDrive
SNES9X TYL
hey! it's only the truth, if the publishers wanted more sales they would of printed more!

Re: Finally Got a PSP! Now What?
I highly recommend what others have already said, go custom firmware and get some retro emulation going. You'll want bigger than a 2gb mem stick for sure. Also, the component cables are a must if you plan to play it on a TV set (over the standard composite cables). However, unless you have a special TV (like the Sony Playstation TV) the picture won't take up the whole screen. It plays in a little box in the middle. I suppose you can use the Zoom function on some sets, but it doesn't natively take up the whole screen.
Get Castlevania Chronicles (then unlock Symphony of the night)
The double pack of Mega Man games (Mega Man X and Mega Man 2) is pretty bad ass if you like Mega Man.
Street Fighter Alpha Max 3 is good.
The various Capcom and Midway compilations are pretty cool.
If you are a God of War fan, you simply MUST play the 2 PSP offerings.
If you are a Final Fantasy fan, Crisis Core is a pretty cool prequel to FF7.
Lunar is a good one, the original FF1 and FF2 (for sale brand new on Square's site for like $6 or something) are pretty darn good, if you like the old Final Fantasy stuff.
Get an extended battery from Amazon. (or wherever) It's basically the PSP phat battery, converted to be used in the slim. It comes with a new battery door too in both black and silver, so all your stuff will match.

Re: Finally Got a PSP! Now What?
Picking the system up tomorrow (Had to have it shipped to my friends house due to mail not always getting delivered where i am).
My Micro sd + pro duo adapter should be here as well. (As long as its not a parcel the mail man seems to actual bother delivering things).
Ordered Final Fantasy Tactics, but it wont be here till the end of the week most likely.
Also ordered a component cable to play on my tv with when im home.
Ill be hitting the retro stores this weekend to see if I can add a couple games on the cheap.
Are PSP games included in the free games on Playstation Plus?

Re: Finally Got a PSP! Now What?
Like many have already said, if you have nothing wrong morally with downloading custom firmware, skies the limit. There are many sites that provide access to the iso files aswell as the custom firmware. If you do go the custom firmware route you will soon see that an 8gb card isnt going to cut it. I love my psp 1001! Its loaded with all the emulators and games for each retro system. I have also loaded it with all the psp games I want as well as ps1 games. Movies in mp4 format and music all on a 32gb card. Whichever route you choose you will love your psp. The best feature is that you can play a game, put it in sleep mode and wake it up to play at the exact spot you stopped without having to save.
Re: Finally Got a PSP! Now What?
haven't had any issues with the pro duo adapter and 2 16g micro sd cards. i think i bought all of it for 20 bucks on amazon last year. emulators, ripped psp games, they all run fine from it.Mendoza wrote:Thanks for all the suggestions.

Re: Finally Got a PSP! Now What?
I'm not a huge fan of emulation.
I do play NES games on my dreamcast, but I don't feel right emulating a psp game itself. I don't think anything id want would be too expensive to buy on the secondary market.
So for now im just going to play legit stuff on it. Maybe in the future i might consider that, but not at this point.
