I hear ya man. I'm mailing out 18 different packages, and I'm going to be out at least $100 that could have gone straight to the Cheslocks.

But, there is a silver lining to this cloud. We learned a few things (at least I did).

If I'm allowed to manage the 2013 auction, we should scratch the "Bids start at $1.00" format. Will this decrease some participation? Sure. Will it raise more money and be more cost effective? I firmly believe so. I have no issues with the donator setting a starting price, and that is something we should consider.

And "lots" are the way to sell stuff. I have gameboy games going here, gameboy games going there, a gameboy handheld going somewhere else. That's on me, but now I know, and knowing is half the battle.
Setting a minimum price is a great idea. I think some important things, however, would be to have a quality control on items, cutting down the sheer number of items, and thus likely increasing competition between items.

A "reserve" or "bidding starts at" option will be put into place if I manage the auction this year*. The people who participated aren't jerks. I don't think anyone was trying to take advantage of anyone (one of the reasons I love you guys) and if someone wanted an item, they were going to bid on it.

QC is an interesting idea, and I understand quality>quantity but at the same time the more items available the more possible bids. Combine tons of items that have a reserve price and I doubt you can go wrong with that format.

When all is said, everyone that donated or purchased items should be thrilled with the results. I'll post pictures of payment to the Cheslocks in honor of Blake, as well as all contact with Blake's family. Only two people left to pay up, but I think we'll be really close to $2,000. Awesome job guys.

*I'll also make sure not to number items until I get the complete donation list. That was confusing as a puzzle without corner pieces.

Smile: Feeling great today!

Frown: I overslept and missed out on bacon. :(

Mmeeeh: I got banned from CSGO matchmaking for a week. It's okay, all the other game modes are open for me to romp around in. Also denying that asshole his win was totally worth it.

I may throw a lot together and put it on the B/S/T thread to reach my goal of $2k.

We can all donate without buying games, too, right? Anyone else want to chip in a few dollars with me?

Shouldn't have to do that - if everyone w/an active sale thread donated a modest number, say 20% of each sale today you should have another $150 by end of day.

Or you could just be happy with what you raised...
