darkstalkers series.
darkstalkers series.
I've actually never heard of this series until i started collecting random dreamcast stuff. apparently it was an important franchise. Vampire savior on the saturn is a lot of fun, anyone know what the deal with this series is?

Re: darkstalkers series.
Highly underrated, great games. Influenced Capcom's other big franchises of Street Fighter Alpha and Marvel Vs.

I'm a fan.
Re: darkstalkers series.
Quite fun, quite unique. Over the top, but in a very different way from the VS games. And it's got fun combos but isn't too combo heavy. I think Vampire Hunter (Night Warriors) is the best balanced game in the series, but Savior is lots of fun.

Morrigan is the greatest character Capcom has ever created after Chun Li and Mega Man. Hands down. Period. End of conversation.

Re: darkstalkers series.
I'm so late to this topic. I love the Darkstalkers series and now that I think about it I think Vampire Savior is probably my favorite Capcom fighter. I'm not saying it is the best, but it's my fave. I think the combat system in Vampire Savior hit a good balance between being a bit technical, but also a bit over the top. It's somewhere between the Street Fighter Alpha games and the VS series.
I loved the series more for aesthetic reasons though. Sure the gameplay is great, but I love the character designs and the music. It sort of reminds of Disgaea with the netherworld theme mixed with comedy. I think artistically, it's Capcom's best fighting series. We all love Morrigan, but I also loved B.B.Hood. Something cool about creating a twisted version of a fairy tale character. I loved American McGee's Alice for that reason
I hope Racketboy doesn't mind me pimping HG101 all the time, but they have a great write up on the series here:

heh heh
I never played the darkstalker series but she is a character I tend to play in other games she appears.
Gem fighter, Puzzle fighter, marvel vs cap 2 etc etc.
She sits on m computer background as I type.
While on the subject, which one is the best to pick up. I've noticed number 3 has quite the price tag for it's age.
Re: darkstalkers series.
3 is probably what most people say is the best. I don't know, I haven't gotten it yet. I do enjoy my copy of Vampire Hunter though.
Re: darkstalkers series.
I didn't like hunter, i liked savior. They both came with my saturn when i bought it.
