From what I got in the reports is that most of the people were being treated for minor injuries. Of course some reports say one thing and others say another so who knows!

Visually, yes, it looked cool.

Explosions in general look cool when you're far away from them. Hopefully the casualties are at a minimum.

I'm no conspiracy theorist, but I do think there is more to this story than we know.

It's not awesome as in "stuff is blowing up and people are getting hurt".
It's awesome as I am in awe that a hunk of rock or metal from outer space; the size of a few cars just flew into our atmosphere going faster than the speed of sound. It's a rare occurrence that not very many people get to witness in a lifetime. I would say the same thing about lightning storms or tornados or any type of natural phenomenon. It is a reminder that humans aren't the center of the universe.

A similar event happened in the 40's in Siberia. Apparently this type of impact happens about once a decade or so, but occurs where people do not inhabit.

Indeed. Many years ago I caught what must have been a satellite falling out of orbit. I had walked out of a Mall and just happened to look up and see it. It was much higher and slower, I think I watched it burn for at least 10 minutes as it crawled across the sky.

Every time I read Russian news, I think to myself "I need a dash cam."

Didn't see this topic til now, I already posted in the comic book thread about how this makes me wish we had real life super heroes. A Justice League Watchtower would have seen this coming a mile away.

...which - since the meteor was moving at approximately 33,000 MPH - would have given them a little over 1/10 of a second to react to it.
