Problems with Rent a Hero No. 1

Hey all, this is kind of a weird problems cuz it just maybe be due to my stupidity. SO, I'm trying to play Rent a Hero on my DC. I talk to everyone in the house and order the pizza, then im supposed to go talk to my father who went upstairs. Here's my problem : I cant get up the stairs!! Like is there a button i need to press to walk up the stairs?? I press every button, and i try simply walking up the stairs and nothings happens, i just walk into them. Please Help!

That's really odd, I don't remember having that problem when I played the game. It was either just walking into them and triggering the stepping animation, or pressing something really obvious like the A button. I'm thinking the former, actually.

Is this a burnt copy of the game? You might try re-burning it. If it's an official copy, I'd give it a good cleaning.

But the issue isn't you being dumb, if that helps.
