It's a shame about it though. I was really hoping it would work. I wanted to play EvE again...except without the spaceships. It's the players' ability to influence the economy and the politics that attracts me to the game, not the actual gameplay.
I actually wasn't a huge fan of EVE Online but I have to admire it's political, economical and social aspects. It was like a space version of Wall Street and it forced you to think hard to actually progress.

As for your comment, I think the problem is that it's their first console game and their first FPS. So the two things combined makes up for a very dissapointing experience.

Again, I admired that they tried but sometimes ambition isn't enough.

So after years of not getting around to it, I'm finally playing through the first Deus Ex...which is kinda sad considering I've beaten both the second and third. But on the first! Will I love it like MrPopo? Hate it like Hobie? Not sure, as I'm really not that far yet. We'll see how it goes.

I tried so *hard* to get that into Together Retro this year, but Half Life made it instead. My fight will not give up. It is one FPS all must play.

Are you awesome? Are you awesome like Popo? Then you will love Deus Ex.

Personally, I think the first level gives a bad impression of the game. Stick with it even if it seems dull or archaic at first.

A lot of people seem to say that and be that way, it's understandable because of how open the first stage is, but I knew I was in for one of the best gaming experiences ever within seconds of starting it up myself. The music, the tone, the atmosphere. Oh man.

Could just be one of those games for some people though. Took me a few tries to finally soak into Thief and System Shock 2, both of which ended up being some of my top favorites as well next to Deus Ex. These three blow Half-Life out of the water for me.

Well, I'm still plugging away in Deus Ex. I've made it to Hong Kong, so that should give you an idea of how far I've gotten. Also, I have a sword now. Cool. And an auto-shotgun. Also cool.

You're about to get a much cooler sword.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Hong Kong, as well as the associated music. Also fun to get a laugh at the terrible "stores" nearby. Be sure to talk to the bartender in the club as many times as you can! Fine china, vellllllly expensive.

Which sword we talking about? The one you're gonna pretty much use the rest of the game?

Whenever I think of Deus Ex, the Hong Kong level is always the first one that comes to mind, along with its music. I like the whole game but that section always stood out for some reason.

And the second sword is the coolest sword in any FPS game IMO.

It's a major area in the game, because you hear about it so much in New York. It's just about the halfway point too. That sword also makes it a First Person Slasher instead of a shooter, especially with your Melee skill mastered. Up until the time you get that, I always preferred a stealth, silent approach. I'd master my Pistol skill and enhance the heck out of the Stealth Pistol, and then later on do the same with the sniper rifle.
