What about playing the latest and greatest console games with friends or staying social? sometimes i feel im the only one playing a game and no one to talk to about it.

One reason i wouldnt mind going all PC next gen, is the fact the graphics are getting pretty up there to real life and why do i want a console that can be compared to a computer i built?

Just hoping my Sandy Bridge i5, and HD 7870 can hold out till 2016

That's part of why I play both retro games and current ones. It's nice to be able to discuss games with the average person as well as online.

I call B.S. on all of you :P

We are gamers. Even if we aren't collecting we will still be playing.

If its cheap enough we're gonna own it.

If I say it takes about 20 hours to complete a game on average, multiply that by the number of unfinished games in my collection, and estimate my lifespan to be 80 years, with an estimated 10 hours of gaming per week, I will never complete all the games I already own. Not even close.
Just decided to do the math as well. And despite the fact that I have 1277 unfinished games, if I did 10 hours a week from here on out I could finish my collection by the time I am 72.

Considering the margin of error is skewed to the high side to be safe, it seems likely that I could do it in much less time. My backlog doesn't feel like such a beast anymore.

I dunno if I'll bow out of the console market - I would like a Wii U - but I have bowed out of collecting. Only buying games I "need" now.

I won't break. I don't want to invest into more games. I don't want to buy anymore consoles. I've got to kill off what I have. I feel it makes sense because I feel comfortable too with what I've got. And I'll be real honest with you, with all these games we see this generation I feel I've seen it all so the latest and greatest is on its fifth sequel.

Just cut back on your purchases.

Don't feel the compulsive need to finish everything you own. I have a lot of books. I don't feel the urge to read all of them cover to cover. I'm past that.

I look at my list of games and I don't feel that they're just ground to cover. If they become work, I lose interest. I don't even think about games I need to play anymore.

To some degree this is true, but I do agree with bowing out of "modern" gaming. I'm still looking into Wii games, whose prices are tanking as I type (Ghostbusters, uDraw -- the latter-end RPGs like Last Story won't ever change) because they might be fun way down the line.

I completely agree and back casterofdreams's bowing out, but it's going to be anything but graceful.
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

Sony has had their hands in my wallet for years, where is the sign up sheet for a PS4?
