Camera flash makes most things look horrible. I wouldn't worry about it.

Blu wrote:Nice, did you poly them too? They turned out really nice! If you are trying to get an absolute finish, I'd recommend this little tip.

1. In between coats of poly, run your fingers across the surface. If you feel any roughness, it's most likely the grain of the wood.
2. Take a sanding sponge and gently sand until the surface feels smooth.
3. Reapply poly, and repeat if the surface feels smooth.

I only suggest this because it makes dusting a lot easier.
Thanks for the tip. The Polyshade I used is supposed to be a stain and polyurethane in one. I got it because it was cheaper that way and I thought it'd be easier. But dear goodness was it ever a dust magnet  I had to get out the duster between each coat.

It wouldn't have been so bad if the stain had been lighter, but I think next time I use such a dark stain I'll get the stain and polyurethane separately. It'll be more expensive, but I think it'll save me a lot on dusting time.

Oh I know. It's just slightly irksome that after lovingly staining them 4 times I was hoping that the picture would come out just a little bit better.

It looks fine, or possibly inhabited by ghosts. Good work, and you have inspired me to build shelves for my basement once I get a new chopsaw.

Thanks, fastbilly. Glad I could be an inspiration.

UPDATE

Added all the PS2 games and updated the Wii, DS/3DS, PS3, and GBA sections. Barring any new console purchases, that covers everything I own. I suppose next I'll work on the movies....

I've added a good chunk of my DVD and CD collection on their shelves. It also includes some game shots.

Also updated the NES Pixel Quilt section.
