CDs/DVDs != Cartridges. Besides the cartridges also the actual plastic game boxes for SNK, Sega etc games are differen than everyday CD/DVD cases. Although I dont see why Sega couldn't releases games for Saturn and Dreamcast that way.
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

No they wouldn't. These would be low print runs and being cartridges they'd be really expensive. I couldn't imagine them being any less than $100, probably more like $150+ coming from a big company and including advertising and everything. We're a collection of retro enthusiests here, but most people wouldn't be interested, and not at those prices.

How much was Pier Solar again, with basically no advertising budget and coming from a small group that wasn't driving for maximum profit?
Pier Solar isn't a commercially released game made for the masses and released at places like GameStop or Play-N-Trade. People had to order it from a specific website. Nor was it produced by a well-known game-developer. It's nothing like what I'm talking about.

And since you brought it up, Pier Solar was actually $40. Cheaper than a commercial release of a current console game. And I don't see how being a big-company release would make it more expensive. I would think it would do just the opposite. It would make it cheaper. They can mass-produce these things and have a huge company behind them backing them, as well as have insider-industry deals with manufacturers.

Since we're kind of on the topic...

Lately I've been wondering - since retro gaming is big, would people buy a new 16-bit system? What I mean is, if a system was released today that had capabilities comparable to the SNES/Genesis, would it sell? It would be an interesting experiment.

I sure as hell would. Give us something with the 2D capabilities of the Neo-Geo or the Saturn, and have good third-party support and I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

I think a licensed re-release of a 16-bit system from Sega or Nintendo would sell a lot better than a fully original one.

The guy wants to heavily discount my games to maximize cash also involved in the trade $100 dollars

the games according to eBay (fairly priced) all together are valued at around
$130 conservatively speaking. I hate to but might have to let this one go.

what do you guys think about it?
I don't understand your post. Someone wants all those carts AND cash for Bubble Bobble 2? If so, screw that.
Sorry, for not explaining my self properly.

But yes, he wanted me to trade him all those games and a $100 bill for Bubble Bobble 2.
P.S. I passed on it

I've noticed that collecting for the NES has become VERY popular lately.

Seconded. I would easily shell out a few hundred for a new 2D, 16/24/32bit system. I could live off that forever.

I'm not sure if this is more related to toys or video games, but when I was at Wal*Mart I saw this:

I'm not sure what to make of this. On one had, it's kinda nice to see the facade of a boys' toy not being a doll dropped. On the other hand, "Action Doll" doesn't really sound like something the ten-year-old me would've played with.
