There are several early psp rpgs like astonisha story, generation of chaos, spectral souls etc that suffer through bad localizations and excessive load times.
Kartia (ps1) is below average.
I was having a hard time trying to enjoy growlanser heritage of war on ps2 after liking generations.
I was also not impressed with my initial time with magna carta.
I hear Two Worlds is a pretty bad TES clone...

I'm not. The Golden Sun series isn't terrible... but a couple poor decisions that turned the games into a slog. Dialog is overwrought and generally poorly written, with player "decision points" not mattering a lick. Despite some good ideas and decent enough puzzles, the games do feel really generic.Jmustang1968 wrote:I am very surprised at all the golden sun hate on here.
Even though I don't hate the games, it's easy enough to see why others might. The worst part (from my perspective) is the wasted potential. This is an RPG series that could've been so much better - just trimming down the dialog alone would make them so much better.
Re: The worst RPGs
Hey, I kinda like that part. I'll say this: until recently FF X is the only Final Fantasy game I had beaten. And that's with playing most of them to one degree or another.General_Norris wrote:UNDERWATER BEACHBALLdunpeal2064 wrote:Do people really consider Final Fantasy X a bad game? Then I recently played and beat FF2 (4 in JPN) and it was awesome!

Re: The worst RPGs
Ah man, the first two pages of this thread are blocked at my workplace!
I've only played the first one - I thought I would love it but didn't. It felt like a chore to play most of the time, I didn't hit a nice "groove" until 15 hours in. I have the sequel, which you can transfer character data to, but have absolutely no motivation to play it.ejamer wrote:I'm not. The combat is the best part of Golden Sun. The dialog is the worst....

It's horrendous. I can't believe how bad it is. For a Lunar title it's absolutely disgraceful.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Uh oh...I picked this up last year. During the very limited amount of time that I spent with it, it did not seem like it would live up to Silver Star Story or Eternal Blue. It has the Lunar name, though; so, it can't be all bad, right? Right? <sobs>Nemoide wrote:Lunar Dragon Song - the worst of the worst.
I've ranted about it before. I'm not going to get worked up in this thread.
I bought it complete at GameStop for $4.99. A Lunar game for $4.99?! That should have tipped me off right there...
Re: The worst RPGs
Unlimited Saga - yes worse than any other RPG listed in this thread, horrible gameplay! super high learning curve!
Knights in the Nightmare - I personally hate this game, also has a very high learning curve that i wont ever care to learn and get use to.
Golden Sun - i almost beat this, then forgot where i was and couldnt figure out what to do, i just remember being in this tower at the end of the game.

Re: The worst RPGs
Lunar: Dragon Song is probably the worst for me. As big as a Lunar fan that I was, I just couldn't convince myself to play it consistently. Horrible looking dialogue boxes, and the battle system was terrible.
