Dragon Quest 8 Opinions?
I remember playing this game non-stop, loved everything about this game. Remember trying to fight every monster for that ring. I thought the boss battles were amazing! What are your opinions on this game?

It was a fantastic game. Definitely one of the best RPGs on the PS2. My only real nitpick is that the battle animations caused the fights to drag.

DQ8 is a giant among giants when comparing it to the PS2 RPG library.
I personally have it in my top 5 for PS2 RPGs and probably top 10 for the system overall.
Someday I should make a list of those two.

I thought it was amazing. It was my favorite RPG of that generation and surpassed FFX easily with its game mechanics, so addictive!

It rules.

It's the next game in the series for me - I've been playing all the DQ games in order and am really looking forward to it!

It made molasses look like an F-Zero racer. Dragon Quest has always been slow and clunky, but good lord this game takes it to a whole new level. Great production values, but the game itself is pretty much unplayable.

I loved it. I didn't like it at first as It starts off slow, and the characters seemed uninteresting, but as the game progresses they really open up and grow on you. Also one of the most fantastic looking worlds in an RPG in my personal recent memory. Dragon Quest is a series in general that you need patience to play, but brings many rewards for this patience.

I have to agree, sadly.ZeoDefender wrote:It made molasses look like an F-Zero racer. Dragon Quest has always been slow and clunky, but good lord this game takes it to a whole new level. Great production values, but the game itself is pretty much unplayable.
I don't think I've ever become bored with a game as quickly as I did with DQ8.
Which is a shame, as I was very excited to play it when it came out. I've considered giving it another chance one of these days, but eh...
