hey Rev.

This guy's site offers streaming classic (somewhat classic at least) anime.

http://fantasyanime.com/anime/

You probably could find some old VHS tapes of old anime.

Central Park Media was the early pioneers of anime. Some of their stuff was re-relased on DVD too.

Lately I've been watching G Gundam and YuYu Hakusho. Good shit. 8) The BluRay Discs of YYH from FUNimation look outstanding considering it was an early 90s TV anime.

My man! Two of my favorites. I am also in the middle of a rewatch of YYH with the blu rays, they look amazing.

Easily one of my favorite anime films of all time, absolutely gorgeous in motion and amazing in every way. It's very similar to Princess Mononoke in theme, but I think it even surpasses it. I hope you enjoy it.
Yep, definitely a fantastic movie though I like almost all of the Studio Ghibli movies I have seen with Pom Poko being my least favorite so far. I can't recommend these enough though.

I've been looking for other shows that my kids and I can watch together. They are 6 and 9 and enjoy Yu-Gi-Oh (original and Zexal) and Pokemon. Any recommendations from others on shows that will be on Netflix or Hulu Plus that are young kid friendly and I'd actually want to sit down and watch that we can enjoy together?

I fit the anime-VHS jackpot on Valentine's Day. My girlfriend and I went to NYC and in a Japanese used book (and other media) store, I found the complete "Heidi, Girl of the Alps" anime from the 1970s for $15. The series is pretty famous in Japan, where it still gets referenced in anime from time to time and had both Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki working on it. It's in Japanese with no subtitles, but I'm pretty confident in my ability to figure out what's going on!

I haven't seen enough of either show to make a solid recommendation, but you might want to try Cross Game, which I see is on Hulu. It's a sports anime (baseball) which is usually a neglected genre, but can actually be a lot of fun to watch. However, I don't think it was dubbed, and I don't know if a 6 year old could handle subtitles.

If you felt like buying a DVD (it's a very affordable series) you could get The Big Windup, another baseball series and that one has a dub. I haven't seen either of these, but I've heard good things.

Or maybe One Piece?

Slayers is on Hulu I think. It's got a tiny bit of humor that might go over their heads, but the show never gets any worse than the stuff you'd see on Toonami.

I didn't know Miyazaki worked on a Heidi Anime. Too bad I don't know any Japanese.

Unfortunately my 6 year old can't really read yet and especially not fast enough to follow a movie but thank you for the recommendations. I'll have to check them out as well as Slayers. Any other recommendations folks?
