Haha

lets weigh it out for the Dreamcast controller:

comfort +1
look +1
4 buttons on the face -1
short cord -1
cord on bottom -1
awful d-pad -1
pretty bad analog stick -1
one analog stick -1
VMU - 0 (it looked cool but was useless if you don't play sports games... the one point for look comes from the neat little VMU screen. As for the VMU's functionality... what is a great idea that is not properly executed?)

Anyone who thinks the DC controller was "the absolute best controller ever made" should put down the crackpipe, stop eating acid, and try out some other controllers from our decades of video gaming!

Here's MY review.

Comfort +1
Look +1
Lightweight +1
VMU +1
Possibility of 2 rumble packs +1
Quick, Smooth analog stick +1
Good Layout +1
Bad Directional Pad -1
Short Cord -1

And seriously, what's so bad about the cord on the bottom? I bet if all controllers had the cord on the bottom except the DC, then you would still critisize it! Also, the 360's contrller is great too.

I have no problem with the cord coming out of the bottom, but only one analog stick was a bit daft after the PS Dual Shock had set the standard of 2. I also think that 4 face buttons is a step back from 6 - if a game doesnt need them it doesnt have to use them but if a game needs 6 buttons and its only got 4 what are you going to do? press start to toggle between punc and kick? I thought sega learnt that lesson way back. I personally found it uncomortable to hold as the grips werent as big as the saturns 3D pad and the VMU housing was in my way.

Anyway- Perfect controller... give me the Saturns 3D casing, with a pair of Sony's analog sticks, 6 face buttons and some analogue shoulder buttons. I also really like the gamecube controllers shape in terms of shape but the saturn wins because it has a much bigger face area for more buttons.

If we are inlcuding motion sensitive controllers, then take the wiimote and contour it to fit my hand, add 2 more buttons next to the A button and dream up the ability to be able to tell which way its facing and give me a one on one light sabre fight

Hey Nateup, if you in all your thirteen year-old glory want to call me a fanboy for defending a controller most of the world enjoys using agains someone who said

then tell me that in my private messages. I know at least 75% of this forum can agree that the controller is nowhere near as bad as you say it is. To bad, since you have an inflated ego that makes you almost as anoying as Mozgus, so you reject the validity of all arguments, shy away from logic, and call people names. Like I said. If you want to continue trashing the DC pad, which I bet the forum is almost as tired of hearing as they are of me arguing with people, PM me. I can assure you I have much more to say to you than you have to say to me.

Wow, that does sound awesome. The only thing I dislike about the Gamcube's controller was the analog and C-Stick. You couldn't really move it in a full circle; only more like an octogon.

Yeah I was always in 2 minds about the octagon, some games it helps to be able to tell if you are pushing directly up or whatever but other games its nice to be able to arc. Nights Journey of Dreams would be better with a circlular hole around the analog stick for example.

That was actually the game that made me realize that the nunchuk had the same analog stick as the gamecube, and yes, it was a bit more awkward. However, on percision games like super monkey ball, it was a bit more useful. Overall, I prefer a full circular analog stick.

the gamecube controller would have been perfect if they had put a normal size d pad on it and removed the useless z button.

My dream controller is pretty much the Dreamcast controller, but it would have...

Two sticks instead of one, and the Gamecube kind that's stuck in that little octagon
A Saturn-type directional pad that doesn't suck
six face buttons, not unlike the saturn or N64

One thumb stick (Or D-pad) and a button.
I would just say the 2600 controller but I do not like the hand joystick.
I like thumb sticks.
I also really like simple configurations on the controllers. Back then we had A B and a d-pad, now we have A B C X Y Z R L 2 joysticks A D-Pad and who knows what other buttons they may put on it. That's mainly why I like retro consoles so much.
