Nice. You are moving fast. I'm only one labyrinth ahead of you. I'll play again either tonight or tomorrow night (got to hang out with the wife at least one time this weekend).noiseredux wrote:Just finished the Sand Labyrinth in Shining Wisdom. No lies: the FAQ seemed necessary. It was confusing with the switching between sand and stone. And also I would have been stumped had I not read about using the mole claw to get into secret rooms. The sandworm was an awesome boss battle though.

Re: RPG Progress Report
yeah I'm 5-6 hrs in now I think. Though I'm stopping for now -- got more shoveling and stuff to do around the house today. But I'll probably jump back in for a while tonight. What was the Mirror Labyrinth you mentioned though? Was that the Sand one? Cuz that was definitely really annoying. Which dungeon are you on now?
I don't know about you, but I'm enjoying the game immensely. Other than the switching items with your sword thing, I think it's really great. You and I seem to have pretty similar tastes in RPG's (you seemed to enjoy Golden Ax Warrior as much as I did for instance).

Re: RPG Progress Report
I lied. I'm just ready to start the wind labyrinth which is 4 ahead of you. I was mixing the sand and fire labyrinths up.
I think the sand and mirror labyrinths are the hardest thus far.
We do seem to like similar rpgs. I prefer older\traditional jrpgs over others, i hate mini games forced into newer ones.

Lagoon
Finished two dungeons - a castle and a fire/lava cave. Fought two bosses - the first one went down easy, the second one kicked my ass until I grinded (ground?) two more levels. I've been to the human village, the elf village, and now I'm in the... hobbit village?!

Shining Wisdom
I finished the wind labyrinth then went and got the Shining Sword. The wind lab was super easy (did not need the faq), but the boss was a pain - possibly the hardest one so far.
The king had opened up the entrance to the final labyrinth, but there are some bonus ones I could choose to complete first... It will all depend how I'm feeling when i boot it up tonight.

And Lagoon is............ done?
Turns out it was a pretty short game.
Dear god did that final boss make me want to throw a controller or two.

Re: RPG Progress Report
So how short was it? I own this but have never given it a whirl beyond an initial test. You mentioned that it reminded you of Ys in terms of how difficult its bosses are in comparison to the normal enemies. So...should I be expecting a slog?BoneSnapDeez wrote:And Lagoon is............ done?

Shining Wisdom:

The last 5 bosses were not as hard as I imagined, I only took damage until I figured out the patterns (<5 healing herbs). I'll write more about the overall game in the "Games Beaten" thread later.
Noise,
Ignore the faq for the final 5 bosses (other than the water one) and use a combination of the power orb and sword, if you can dodge this method is way easier than the one suggested in the faq which relies on some skill and more luck.

Re: RPG Progress Report
There's no in-game timer.... I'd estimate it was under 10 hours. Seemed about as long as Ys II, if you've played that. My playthrough was probably sped up a bit as I used maps - the dungeons can be confusing and like a Zelda/Ys game you can't miss chests as most every item is essential.Ack wrote:So how short was it? Honestly the game isn't very good. I played it out of morbid curiosity.

That's good, as I happen to have a lot of morbid curiosity. I think I'll give it a go sometime soon and compare/contrast my thoughts with you. I do know from what I've seen of the game that I like the music, but I've hardly touched it beyond that.BoneSnapDeez wrote:There's no in-game timer.... I'd estimate it was under 10 hours.
