Well that sucks. I'd call customer service, calmly explain what happened, your situation, and that you can not wait even two weeks to have your account credited. You have bills that need to be paid, and it is their fault you can't pay them.

Good luck.

I'm just kidding with you. If an ATM shorted me $260, I would be royally pissed; so, I hope everything works out for you. While you are waiting for your money, however, it would probably be a good idea to gather as much information as you can about the machine (i.e., where it is located, the serial number, the owner, etc.) so that you have it handy if someone disputes your claim. You might also want to place a fraud alert on your account, and request that your bank stop/reverse payment to the ATM. That might place the onus on the company that operates the ATM to show that you received money (instead of vice-versa). Good luck.

I have had a couple instances like that. One was remedied almost instantly, the other took a little longer.

#1 I gave my wife the ATM card to almost clean out the savings for the last Christmas gift buying trip. A week or so later I get a letter from my Credit Union billing me $18 for overdrawing my savings. (Never knew you could do that.) Went to my Credit Union and found out that it processed the withdrawal, processed it again, realized it did it twice and put the second back in, all in the space of 3 seconds. It then gave my wife the money she wanted. But since for 1 second the balance was negative, not that any money had actually been given out yet, it flagged it as overdrawn and assessed me a fee. They told me that I would have my money back in 6 to 8 weeks, which I flipped out over since it was all their fault.

#2 I was leaving for vacation and hit the ATM on the way to the ocean. I knew what my bills were and what I could take out. I waited and waited and it came back, 'Transaction Cancelled'. I did it again, got my money and went on my way. When I got back I had a note from my bank complaining of a bounced check, no big deal, only child support. It turned out that they had processed the transaction twice. I talked to the people who owned the ATM and they said, "Yeah, the machine came up with too much money left in it last Monday." They had a check for me the next morning including enough to cover my Credit Union's overdraft fee. My Credit Union also refunded me the fee, but said that they would take it back once if they determined that it was the ATM owner's fault, which it was.
