atm took money

I went down to my local cash points atm to withdraw my unemployment money.Put card in,put code in,wanted 260 dollars,kicked card out and then everything shut off!!No money no nothing.Called card and sure enough i am 260 less in my pocket.Called cash points atm and they say call Card company.Called card company and they say it may take 45 to 90 days before i will have answer.I have to fill out some papers saying what happen.Anything i can do??i think its the atm fault.

are you sure the ATM isn't hacked? look around for some loose wires, strange looking/fat card readers. maybe someone is trying to steal your PIN code and steal your money

If it is a reputable ATM with a camera (not pointed at the keypad), it probably should be visible that you aren't seen holding cash in your hand.

And they kept it on. Threaten a lawsuit if they don't return your money ASAP. It is very illegal for them to hold onto your money for any significant amount of time.

I've had an ATM steal cash from me, and on more than one occasion.

First time was the ATM at a supermarket. Went to take out $20, while processing it "timed out" and went back to the home screen. I checked, the money was gone from my account but I never got it. Second time was actually at the same ATM machine, but for more money. I went straight to my bank who told me they'd have to contact the ATM company and wait for them to count the money and verify that I never got it before I could get a refund. Luckily, my bank said if it would take over a certain amount of time (I think it was 7 days) they would spot me the money until they got it back from the ATM company. I was actually taking the money out to pay bills, so it really put me in a pickle.

The last time it happened was from the ATM inside Dave and Busters (a bar/restaurant/arcade/thing/place). I went to take out $20 so I could buy more tokens and the ATM stole the $20 from my account.

So shifty when that happens. I wonder how many people never notice and the ATM company gets free money.
