Re: RPG Progress Report
ok, so I didn't touch Shining Wisdom tonight. But if that blizzard hits tomorrow, I should have some free time.

Re: RPG Progress Report
I got the Pegasus Helmet and entered the Wind Labyrinth last night. I did have to get help from a faq for the Mirror Labyrinth.noiseredux wrote:ok, so I didn't touch Shining Wisdom tonight. But if that blizzard hits tomorrow, I should have some free time.
The Mirror Labyrinth was so tough and annoying, if I didn't get help I probably would have given up on the game - it was that cheap.
I will give you some advise, make sure you have $1000 when you get the freeze orb because you can use the freeze orb to find a secret shop to buy pajamas that allow you to sleep and replenish your health anytime including in dungeons.

FF1 (from FF1&2:DoS (GBA)) update:
Class change complete. Need more Gil to get all the higher level spells and the bottle in the desert for the submarine. Returning to the Power Peninsula to achieve that. Also not too happy that you have to level up to get MP for the Knight and Ninja to be able to use those low level spells (the NES port already gave you a few uses after class change based on current level).

Re: RPG Progress Report
been playing Shining Wisdom the past hour or more. Killed the Spider in the Mystic Wood and now I've got the Swan/Princess following me around. Off to the Millennial Tree it seems...
EDIT: holy shit the cactus boss is hard and I'm out of herbs. :\
I feel like I'm probably gonna have to backtrack and get some healing herbs now. But I don't feel like it right now, so I'll take a break.

Grind the spider in the first room at the M Tree. I was able to get almost 3Gs in less than an hour.noiseredux wrote:been playing Shining Wisdom the past hour or more. Killed the Spider in the Mystic Wood and now I've got the Swan/Princess following me around. Off to the Millennial Tree it seems...

hahaha, I read the same thing in the GameFAQs walkthru-- the problem is this. I am TERRIBLE at dealing with the spiders when they turn little and red.SpaceBooger wrote: Grind the spider in the first room at the M Tree. I was able to get almost 3Gs in less than an hour.

Lagoon
First time playing. Started off in a town, then proceeded to the first dungeon. Not too bad - the game doesn't tell you when you level up though, somewhat annoying.
First boss was tough. Reminded me of a typical Ys boss, as I died a bunch of times but was able to re-spawn again right at the start of the battle. I spent some time figuring out the attack pattern of the boss and trying to work out a strategy, but just kept getting my ass kicked. Eventually I realized that I could simply run up to the boss and slam the attack button repeatedly - he went down before I did.
Now I'm in a town full of elves, though they don't look that much different than the humans of the first town.
Oh and Shining Wisdom.... Just looked at some screenshots. From some reason I always thought this was one of those ugly ass 90s 3D games (like Virtual Hydlide), but it's actually in beautiful glorious 2D?! I want this one bad.

Thats where I read it too.noiseredux wrote:hahaha, I read the same thing in the GameFAQs walkthru-- the problem is this. Anyway, I stand at the corner of the branch and use the boxing glove. If timed right you can land two hits from that spot - one to kill the spider and another to kill the mini ones. You may have to use the glove to retrieve the money bag if it is in the door.
Be careful using the FAQ though... I used it to for help with one labyrinth and then once I tired the mirror one I gave up quickly and resorted to the the FAQ. I never really tried myself. So I have decided that I will only reference it if I am stuck since the temptation to follow it and get the game done quickly is too hard to resist.

Re: RPG Progress Report
Yeah I'm trying to use the FAQ sparingly, as I do with most games. But having it to reference is nice. Anyway, I didn't grind the spiders for $ and instead just went back to town and got some healing herbs. Killed the Cactus, and then killed the rock monster thingy. Power went out a couple times from storm since deterring my progress. I just got the long sword (thank goodness) but I'm gonna quit for the night.

Re: RPG Progress Report
Just finished the Sand Labyrinth in Shining Wisdom. No lies: the FAQ seemed necessary. It was confusing with the switching between sand and stone. And also I would have been stumped had I not read about using the mole claw to get into secret rooms. The sandworm was an awesome boss battle though.
