Usually it would be some asshole who wanted to steal an expensive or hard to find game from a rental shop. Unwittingly buying one of these switcheroos at a flea market happens to everyone who collects cartridge games at least once.

For me it wasn't too bad at least, it was Ikari Warriors 3 inside of a Gun.Smoke shell.

I gave it to my then roommate who got a kick out of it being the wrong game.

On the bright side if you find a really badly jacked-up Ninja Gaiden Trilogy for cheap you can put it in the nicer shell.

Unplanned stops today yielded some goodies:

Final Fantasy VII -6.99
Chrono Cross -6.99

Both are GH version, but complete with good looking discs. Both cases need some love/replacement covers though.

Then stopped at my normal goodwill that I pass a lot and finally found a better monitor to put in my MAME cab. I have been using a normal 19" CRT TV hooked up via S-Video from the graphics card, and it has been passable, but I was always on the lookout for something better. Always hoping to score a 19" + CRT Monitor, but they are always like 15-17 inch. Well tucked on the shelf was a very hefty 20" (4:3) NEC LCD monitor with power and VGA cables for 20 bucks. It was in ok shape, 2 scratches on the glass (yes it has a glass screen) that I hoped would not show up when turned on.

Took a chance and purchased it, got it rigged into my cab just to see if it worked, turned on fine, but I noticed the left side flickering, but still gave it a shot. After about 5 minutes it seemed to "warm up" and was looking pretty nice. So I finally have something that isnt as low res and fuzzy looking as my previous TV, an interesting feature of this monitor is the stand allows it to turn 90 degrees!
Its just like this one:

Sorry for the long post, just excited to finally have an upgrade in my cab!

So somewhere out there, someone has a copy of Battleclash with Ninja Gaiden Trilogy inside of it.

Collector fail...
I was tempted to go back to the flea market and buy every copy of Battleclash in the dealers possession...I concluded that (1) it was not worth the 3 hour round tript; (2) he probably did not have any copies of Battleclash; and (3) even if he did have Battleclash, he probably did not one with a Ninja Gaiden Trilogy board. (Also, I would have to put up with the smoke again...) I actually ended up trading my Ninja Gaiden Trilogy shell (w/free Battleclash board) to another mamber who was looking to upgrade his cartridge...so, everything worked out in the end.
Oh shit, you bought stuff from the game king! (Apparently he used to wear a crown and cape in the late-90's according to multiple sources) I used to buy stuff from him all the time at the Morganton flea market, and actually bought that exact copy of Battleclash myself before about two years ago. Long story short a came back the next day and exchanged it for a few other games worth what I paid for it (like $8).

I've gotten some really good/crazy stuff from that guy in the past though:

Jaguar complete with multiple controllers
Contra Hard Corps (loose)
Castlevania Bloodlines (loose)
Rocket Knight Adventures (loose)
Lighetening Force (Complete in box)
Lots of rare and neat older controllers, accessories, etc...

And tons more stuff before he mysteriously disappeared from the Morganton flea market. Where exactly in Charlotte has he managed to stick himself at? If anything I might swing by and check to see if he's got anything cool or in particular that I'm looking for. It's worth the dead lung and all, lol.

In other news my finds for today were:

Nes stuff:
Zelda 1 & 2 - In sleeves with manuals and map
Original Mario Bros - In sleeve with manual
Dragon Warrior - In sleeve with manual
Super Mario Bros (sans Duck Hunt) - In sleeve with manual

Misc:
Phillips CD-i 4-Button Gamepad - Complete in box, it even has the original receipt!
A pair of Monster Cable standard L-R RCA Interconnects
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS

I ended up trading it to another member who did just that.

I purchased from him once...at the Morganton flea market. He has not set up shop in Charlotte to my knowledge, and I have not visited the Morganton flea market in years. I did get some good prices on the other things that I purchased from him (i.e., some complete Genesis games, some semi-rare NES games, etc.); so, I am sorry to hear that he has packed up shop.

In any event, if you come to Charlotte, there is only one place to visit...the Goodwill Computer Works store on Freedom Drive. I have not had the opportunity to pick it for several weeks, and it is probably overflowing with good games right now...

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TV and DVD Player $56.65 Shipped
The seller underestimated the shipping of the CRT, actually cost more to ship in two separate packages. The TV and DVD Player both came with the original boxes, remotes complete with battery cover with lock screws and DVD Player manual. Unfortunately no TV manual though. My daughter purchased this set since I would not give up my Car Show unit that I bought a few years ago.

DVD Parent Lockout Number 9922
TV Parent Lockout Number 1111

In both instances a killer find, anything with a vintage Turtle tends to be pricey! I bought one in December 2010 for $7.00.

Wario Twisted Mawaru Made in Wario - $7.00 BookOff
A very nice find, there are only a couple of gyro sensor controlled games for the GBA. I now have three including WarioWare: Twisted!, Yoshi Topsy Turvy and now Mawaru Made in Wario. Bought on a chance that there would be extra levels, common especially when there is a collection of mini games. The PAL version never came out, some levels were removed from the US version for various reasons such as the enoki mushroom.

Wario Ware Twisted VS Mawaru Made In Wario

“Unseen” does not simply mean that which was never released as a complete game, but it often also refers to graphical and textual changes in during the process of translating titles for the western market from Japan. These things are never seen in the west! This article, dedicated to Wario Ware Twisted begins a new section of Unseen 64, which is meant to observe what changed have been made in the localizing of a game, be they cultural or simply accidental.
