What really puzzles me is GS is still displaying the cases, as if to generate a hype for the low stock? Their website clearly shows them using this to their advantage, as the new copy is now 49.99, while the preowned copy goes for 59.99:

mine has promo cases, but no new or used copies. There are rarely copies at any GS stores any more.
Same here. My GS has six promo boxes sitting in the Wii section, but they've been out of stock for months. And there's none within 100 miles of me.

@ avrame - Gamestop displays their top sellers in generic empty cases even if no longer in stock locally. This drives me nuts in light of games being gutted, then empty generic display cases sometimes of a gutted game being made. That said, there are still some Gamestop locations that have Xenoblade in stock which CAN BE TRANSFERED IN. The website only lists 100 mile radius so punch in random zip code numbers or have the local store pull the entire country.

@ 8bit - With the Rewards card $40.49 a couple weeks ago. The price jump is just marketing, any retailer would be dumb not to change prices based on demand and availability. Gamestop still is a good price compared to online prices, but agree everywhere the price is inflated. Due to the WiiU now out, it limits chances of another Wii print run. Hopefully the demand will convince the publisher to press more copies.

Hmm, this seems a little odd to me.
Last week I checked gamestop canada online to see if there were some in stock near me. Literally 5 or 6 stores very close to me had them in stock, and only 2 of them were "Low Stock". Now no stores within 100 miles from me have it.

Did someone actually buy all those copies within a week?

I noticed the promo case deal at multiple stores when I was looking for it. I actually asked them why they would have promo cases if they didn't have any games and was told that they were REQUIRED to have those out. Their marketting department dictates which promo cases they must have on the shelf, regardless of stock, and this was one of them. That's kind of messed up.

I imagine the scenario they're going for is that somebody calls their friend and says "I saw multiple copies of Xenoblade on the shelf at such and such store" so their buddy runs down and finds out it's out of stock. But, he's there so starts looking around and maybe buys something...... Bastards.

They certainly were not lying about that. Gamestops and all other retailers have inventory floor plans sent to them by corporate based on their store layout which dictates what goes on shelves, what marketing materials are out, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if the Xenoblade display cases you speak of are gone in next retail floor plan update since they no longer have new copies to sell.

I think I read somewhere that these games were hard to find because of Tektoro.

I haven't really been paying attention in regards to the new FE game, but is there a fear that the price is going to go up or something? Being mentioned next to Xenoblade in the topic title is a little worrying.

I was in my local Target and Best Buy today. Both stores had multiple copies of the new Fire Emblem.

I am a bit intrigued by the game (haven't played any of them), but I figure I'll wait for a sale. Do the FE games drop in price pretty regularly and/or quickly?
