What about game rentals? Was holding out on upgrading computer to see what Xbox did, if this is true guess I will be going PC then.

If they want it bad enough, I'm sure Gamefly and Redbox could get some sort of licensing deal and get special copies of games or something.

If they do that, people will steal even more their copies
Re: No Used Games On Xbox 3
I like Steam and digitally distributed because even though I can't resell games or share them with friends, I get other benefits that pre-owned physical media games don't offer. Reason 1: steam sales. Left 4 Dead 2 for $5. Portal 2 for $7.50. Reason 2: steam keeps up with the stuff I've bought so if my computer explodes I can download them again and again. So gradually I've been coaxed into paying more, like $25 for Batman Arkham City or $30 for Skyrim. I've sort of been proselytized by steam. Anyhow, as far as I'm concerned, that's what this new XBOX will be competing with.
Strike one against this new XBOX - being online all the time. Sometimes I go offline. I might carry my system to someone else's house. I might be soaking up bandwidth with something else. Hell, I might just have the internet off just cause I feel like it. Steam doesn't require me to be online all the time.
Strikes 2 and 3 I can't make any statements about cause we don't know them yet, but if I learn the new XBOX lacks the equivalent of 'steam sales' and cloud-based way of keeping up with the stuff gamers buy, then I'm never buying one. That's just too much of a pain in the butt. It'd be a blatantly draconian decision to make things more profitable for microsoft and less convenient for me, which I frankly see no reason to put up with when there's a better alternative available.

Hopefully by the time I get the urge to buy the PS4 or Xbox 3 maybe 2-3 years after release they will have hopefully come to their senses
. Till then I'm happy with working on my back log I need about a lifetime of free time to catch up on it anyways lol.

Can anybody think of a single way in which this sort of thing is beneficial to consumers? Because I've got nothing.

Why Microsoft is killing the second-hand game market
http://www.edge-online.com/features/why ... me-market/

Microsoft have been persistently intent on alienating many people, with intrusive ads and the lack of in-house software efforts, and this latest rumour hasn't been refuted by any PR cronies so far. Doesn't bode well.
