My main focus on my show is fighters and Shmups.

I'm doing a Strider clone Osman my next episode that's worth a look. Martial Masters is obscure outside the hardcore community it's worthy of 3rd strike graphically.

Trio the Punch is an odd game that was just weird, a Data East Gem.

If you want something truly horrible check out best of best.

if you want to stick with the "shmup devs who make interesting one-off fighting games" theme there's also Toaplan's Knuckle Bash, Seibu Kaihatsu's Zero Team, Video System's Karate Blazers, Raizing's Beastorizer/Bloody Roar and Gazelle's Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon

Osman is a cool game. As someone pointed out to me last time I mentioned it, it was even made by Strider's creator Kouichi Yotsui and other ex-capcom members (who left over creative differences), making it sort of an unofficial sequel.
