I was able to use credit to get this and it shipped yesterday so I'm anxiously excited to get this. Pretty sure my daughter will want to look through it as well.

Wind Waker had an MSRP of $49.99 in 2003. Anyone selling it for $50 now could be losing up to $10 due to inflation.Betamax001 wrote:That depends if it is still in print in some way in 5-10 years. I mean Wind Waker on GameCube is a common game and they printed a ton of them, but when I looked at the Zelda games yesterday, it was commanding almost 50 bucks on Amazon. It really depends if the people who are buying the book keep their own copies or not.
Selling half my NES/SNES/PS1 collection (ending Dec 1):

Buuuut... if they bought the game in 2008 for $15 and are selling it now for $50, they're making a nice profit margin on every copy sold. If anyone makes money reselling this book down the road it'll be the people who buy copies below the MSRP after the buzz and excitement of the initial release dies down, but before the book goes out of print.Zing wrote:Wind Waker had an MSRP of $49.99 in 2003. I never said rare, only collectable. Collectable doesn't mean it commands high prices, it just means people will probably want to add it to their collection. I was more meaning that people that are interested should think about buying it. It is selling for $15 below list.BoringSupreez wrote:That's what I was about to say. You can't become rare and collectible while being the #1 book on Amazon.dsheinem wrote:Seeing as how it is the top selling book, I don't think this will ever be hard to find. That leatherbound one (sold out long ago) with a small print run will probably be, though.Jamisonia wrote:I'm sure this will be a collector's item some day.

Got my copy in the mail yesterday.
A couple of thoughts:
- I don't like how the first section of the book is essentially an advertisement for Skyward Sword. I gave Skyward Sword a shot last year and wasn't impressed. I do plan on giving it another try soon. That said, I don't see any reason it should command 1/5th of the book when there are entries in the series that are much more deserving.
- I DO love the emphasis on concept art and material that was not included in any final products or marketing materials. Especially the stuff from the 80's and early 90's. There are a few bits in this book that really let me feel like I'm getting a behind the scenes peak.
- I DO appreciate how some of the red-headed step children of the series (The oracle and Four Sword entries) are being given the same respect as the more illustrious (and sometimes overhyped) mainline titles.
- I am tickled that I haven't found any sign of the CDi titles yet. I might have overlooked them but I wonder if this is Nintendo outright refusing to acknowledge them.
- I like the attempt to put the games on a timeline despite the impossibility of pleasing everyone.
- Overall, an above quality book that has some real substance without feeling like a cash-in.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

The first thing I did was to comb through looking for these. Yeah, they aren't there.Flake wrote:

If it's the highest selling book on Amazon, expect to see it at Barnes and Noble soon.
