awesome free album download. Don't ask me what genre, it's just awesome. Produces all his own stuff, plays the sax, stand-up guy.
I've been watching this dude DJ since he was at MSU, playing shows for like 20 people in a dive bar. Now he's selling out large venues and playing huge festivals. Crazy world.

Miku Hatsune sings World Is Mine
If you like the music, you might want to try out the games, J T. Project Diva Extend has a pretty solid track list. Check out Ura Omote Lovers, Rolling Girl, Rassetsu to Mukuro, and Hello Planet. (I think that's the title of the last one. It's been a while since I played the games, and I can't quite remember all of the tracks and their titles.)
I actually don't really care for a lot of the vocaloid music, especially all of the covers that are on youtube, but there are some really good tracks that I've heard in the games. They're mostly in Extend, though.

I would like to play the games, but I don't have a PSP or PS3 to play them on. Thanks for the advice about other tracks to check out. This whole vocaloid thing is kind of new to me. I first saw Miku Hatsune online maybe a year ago when the live hologram video was making the rounds on the internet, but I didn't follow up to hear more vocaloid music until just this week.pierrot wrote: If you like the music, you might want to try out the games, J T. I've always wanted to make an album about a robot that wants to be real, but can only feel alive when others believe in him. I've always imagined using vocoders and talkboxes for that, but adding a vocoloid to the mix would be ideal. I actually find it inspiring that Miku Hatsune's creators took her all the way to the stage in terms of making her feel real. I'd like to see a concept album that breaks the 4th wall and asks the audience to care for the virtual idol so that she can have a Pinocchio like transformation. There's always been something magical to me about believing in a fantasy so much that you make it essentially reality.

This is great. Thanks for the link. I'm enjoying the free album. It looks like he's playing in Seattle Friday. Maybe I'll go see him live too.skate323k137 wrote:http://mynameisgriz.com/

Glad you like it. He puts on a killer show, if you can make it I highly recommend it.

Re: Electronic Music Thread
Personally, I think I like your album idea a lot more than the inspiration behind Hatsune Miku. I think it was a cool musical project and tool at first, but it's morphed into this weird, almost cult like, musical genre. The creators of the vocaloid software continually make new 'singers' with each new release, but fans have also made their own. I don't know. It just has that weird stench of Japanese obsessiveness that I don't much care for.J T wrote:I've always wanted to make an album about a robot that wants to be real, but can only feel alive when others believe in him. If you wanted to really get into it, Nico Nico is the place to go. All the composers who release albums and such are releasing tracks to Nico Nico, so it all goes there first.
Just downloaded that Griz album, and it's pretty damn funky. Reminds me a little of the VVVVV soundtrack dubstepped.
