Guys, I can confirm to you that the Japanese version does not have the boot issue. The US In The Hunt would often freeze after the Kokopeli logo, but I thought that it was because I was using an ST Key or ARP to play it on a Japanese Saturn. I bought the Japanese version, Kaitei Daisensou, and it does not have the same problem. I then sold the US version and got rid of it.

Maybe that's just your copy.

That's not true. I have one JP copy that does not have the issue, but I used to have 2 JP copies that had the issues.

I know as far as AR's are concerned, they can cause certain games to act funny. I know if I try to play Crows with it on my US system, the loading in between levels take longer, and the game sometimes randomly freezes.

If I play it in my JP Saturn, none of these issues are prevalent.

EDIT: I also have In the Hunt - NTSC, and I've never experienced that problem.

Some JP versions have the issue even when played on a JP console without an AR.

So what we can safely confirm is only that if it works it works, and if it doesn't it doesn't... Sounds about right.

Thunder Force V I think Boils down to preference. I'll probably get both versions.
Sotn nd tfv are mirror situations. If one prefers the psx port of sotn, they should prefer the saturn port of tfv for the same reasons. The saturn version of sotn is missing graphical effects, but has added omake features. Similarly, the psx port of tfv is missing tons of visual effects, but has a few omake added bonuses.
