I'm not much of a cartridge collector honestly. And I'm cool with the Saturn soundtrack. Plus -- I really like the anime cutscenes, which I'm certain are absent from the SNES version.Gamerforlife wrote:You should try the Super Nintendo version some time. I prefer the Genesis soundtrack.Gamerforlife wrote:Mega Man X 3 is fun. It has more secrets than other entries in the series. I spent about 2 hrs just messing around, exploring levels (got the leg upgrade already) and trying to figure out bosses. Thus far, bosses seem tougher than in X4 -- I must have have made it to Acid Seaforce four or five times with no success in taking him out. At any rate, super fun game -- I just wish I didn't have to deal with the stupid password system.
That's both versions of Zero's theme song. Somehow the SNES soundtrack seems more rock oriented and dramatic. There's more of an edge to it IMO. Personally, I hate the CD based versions' soundtrack. I think Xeogred does too if I remember correctly

I would definitely take that over the CD soundtrack, but I still think the SNES version kicks its asspierrot wrote:I prefer the Genesis soundtrack.Gamerforlife wrote:Mega Man X 3 is fun. It feels more right for a MM X game. His intro stage cover is pretty badass though. It retains the same feel as the SNES original and would make a fine substitute.
Damn, I would have loved seeing some MM X games on the Genesis, but done differently than their SNES counterparts like what Konami did with all of its series back then. People can debate all the day the merits of Contra 3 versus Contra Hard Corps or Castlevania 4 versus Bloodlines

Batman on NES! Addicting gameplay, hard as hell, and it has a great soundtrack!

OK, so finally made a bit of progress on MMX3... Blizzard Buffalo, Toxic Seahorse and Tunnel Rhino are all dead (can't remember their Japanese names, so had to look up the US names instead). The Catfish level is really difficult -- and I've tried both branching paths, but have died on both mid-bosses. I don't find X3 as charming as X4, but I will say that it's one hell of a game!

I think a lot of people would agree that MM X 3 is harder than its predecessors and harder than MM X 4 as well. So I'm curious, have you used Zero at all? And if so, did you lose him yet? That actually does change some events if he gets taken out before you beat the game.noiseredux wrote:OK, so finally made a bit of progress on MMX3... Re: What platformer are you playing now?
I used him once, early on. And he died. And when I realized that he was like DEAD dead, I went back to an earlier save where he was still alive. I just figured maybe I'd need him for something later. Though, I've never been a Zero dude anyway. Like I mentioned earlier, I loved X4 but never bothered trying a Zero playthrough.Gamerforlife wrote: I think a lot of people would agree that MM X 3 is harder than its predecessors and harder than MM X 4 as well. Re: What platformer are you playing now?
Super Mario World. I have to play through it at least once a year.
One thing that bugs me about these old Nintendo platformers - they save your position but not your lives. So I rack up 75 lives in Mario World - turn off the game to make dinner. Turn it back on and I'm small Mario with 5 lives!
I think DKC did the same thing, as I recall.
