Been wanting another pokemon game for my DS for a while now, so far i only have Pokemon White, and im pretty set on SoulSilver.
I just want to know if the PokeWalker is worth it, and if Kanto is the full Kanto from Red/Blue/Yellow, or if they cut alot out like they did in the original Silver and Gold.
Because if it's the full Kanto, then that would make it a HUGE game, like Red/Blue/Silver/Gold all in one.
Pokemon SoulSilver, should i get it?

The pokewalker was very fun but without random geeks with their own to play it is a small distraction now. But I loved it.
Kanto is better done than in the original games as far as I remember since there were less limitations. It's still smaller than the original game, for obvious reasons, but there's a lot to do there.
I would get it, it's the best Pokémon game by a significant margin.

Was going to get Fire Emblem: Awakening today, but their seems to be a stock shortage or something, so ill get SoulSilver now and pick up Fire Emblem: Awakening when Target or Amazon actually has it in stock.

The PokeWalker is a gimmick. It's essentially just a Pokemon themed pedometer, and almost completely worthless. As a pack in its kinda neat, but consider it about as useful as the Halo 3 cat helmet or the Batman Arkham Batarang.
That said, HeartGold/SoulSilver are without a doubt the best Pokemon games ever made. They're complete remakes of Gold and Silver with elements from Crystal, all brought to the standards of the fourth gen of Pokemon.
One of the biggest differences is the music, especially if you remember the GameBoy Color games. The sound is nothing short of amazing. I strongly consider HeartGold/SoulSilver to have the strongest sound design on the DS bar none.
What you get here is Gold and Silver, but with many more elements added from the newer Pokemon games such as the global wifi trading/battling new items new Pokemon and even new areas, like the whole area to the left of Johto not in the original.
As for Kanto, there is a lot more to do there now than in the original games, but it's still a lot like the the original Gold and Silver in that many areas are still closed/blocked or severely shrunk.
Off the top of my head: Viridian forest is a forest again and not just a hedgemaze. Safari Zone is where you catch the imported Pokemon from the GBA games.
Not changed
Cinnabar Island is still a rock with a Pokemon center, Seafoam Islands is a single room for Blane, the Powerplant is a plot point, Mt Moon is smaller, Silph Co and the Pokemon Tower can't be explored, the underground paths around Saffron can't be entered, there's no Team Rocket Hideout in Celedon, and Dark Cave is also simplified.
On the other hand, there's a lot more post game content because routes are filled with more Pokemon than before, you can catch non-native gen 4 Pokemon and once you get all sixteen badges, you can challenge the elite four again for some truly difficult battles with their teams level's being in the late 60's at least.
There's a lot of game here. It kinda sucks Kanto isn't like it was in the original, but this is still Pokemon at its very best.

How is the Online trading, is alot of hacked stuff on there, or are most players legit? with all the DS Flashcarts and built in cheats, i cant imagine alot goes on there legit.Satoshi_Matrix wrote: What you get here is Gold and Silver, but with many more elements added from the newer Pokemon games such as the global wifi trading/battling new items new Pokemon

Well since pokemon X&Y are coming out soon I'd just wait for that, since all the gen 2 pokemon are easy to get without SS/HG anyways but sure it's not bad, they included stuff from crystal version too like the suicine magician guy and the D/P battle tower yada yada

Seafoam Island is a dungeon again in SoulSilver, it's where you catch Articuno. There's another ladder at the side near Blaine's entrance, I recall.Satoshi_Matrix wrote:Seafoam Islands is a single room for Blane.

Both. Theres a lot of shiny level 100 legendaries and there's a lot of level 2 rattatas. It's pretty easy to pick out the fakes.

Also, YMMV, but I loved the pokéwalker. It's a simple, clever little trick that further immerses you in the world of the game, in that it creates a real-world parallel between you and your character. There's something awesome about literally toting one of your creatures around with you, and then getting a little recap of your "adventures" when you're done.
If you want legit trades, it's best to find online communities outside of the GTS and talk with those people first. There's an LJ community called shinypoke for shiny pokémon hunters/collectors, for instance. I'm sure there are others, but I haven't looked beyond this one.

Remake of the best Pokemon games ever? Check
Has mainly Pokemon designs that are classic and don't suck? Check
Has tons of hours of gameplay? Check
I guess it lacks some of the refinements to the series B&W had, but it's still far better than anything before it.
Plus, you at least fight Team Rocket again in this, and not a cheap knock off
