Ah, I thought I was missing one. It's moot, anyway, since I was being facetious. There's no way I'd ever buy a CD-i.#Red# wrote:What about the GCN? 4 Swords, Wind Waker, ad Twilight Princess?o.pwuaioc wrote:That's more Zeldas than any other console. What if someone gave you one million dollars with the condition that you have to use some of the money to purchased a CD-i? You could buy it new, used, broken, whatever. So long as you had a CD-i.o.pwuaioc wrote:Ah, I thought I was missing one. It's moot, anyway, since I was being facetious. There's no way I'd ever buy a CD-i.

Every console has their gems, the 3DO does seem to be a limited libary though and can get pricey to find. I think its strongest point is playing games that were only available on DOS and older computers. The 3DO offers discovering the older games as the only console release easily hooked up to the TV or a composite monitor. Looks like a few in the batch, one standout would be Stellar 7, I played that tank game on the PC was a lot of fun.TheRev wrote:I don't really know too much about it. It wasn't a great system but it does have it's games I just not sure how many of the Non FMV ones were any good.
So, is the 3DO worth while or should I best be looking at another obscure system.

Honestly I can really only think of two standout 3DO exclusives: Guardian War and Lucienne's Quest (technically the latter is also on the Saturn - but in Japan only). And Lucienne's Quest costs a fortune.
If you have a couple hundred bucks to burn, you're much better off getting something like a PC Engine Duo.

Re: The 3DO...Worth while?
I loved my 3DO back in the day. I remember paying $600 for that thing and had a bunch of games I liked. I still play Twisted from time to time with some family and we all really enjoy it. That said, I do think a bunch of the best games are now available on other consoles so I've never bothered to go back.

You can get a 3DO for about what 2 modern games would cost. You can burn all the CDRs you want to play. It doesn't take much for the 3DO to be worth the cost. IMO, Need for Speed and Road Rash are plenty. They exist on other consoles, but the ports are significantly different.
CD-I, only recommened for a laugh. I haven't played anything I'd actually recommend. Clue was kind of nifty, with the way they randomized the murderer while using the same footage each time. But it's tedious as hell to play. Jeopardy was so poorly done, you don't even enter your final Jeoparty answer into the game, you just use the honor system. All the crappy FMV games are as crappy as you'd expect, if you've played the SegaCD. They're just higher resolution. Even the lauded Burn:Cycle is just a crappy FMV game, with all the tedious trial and error you'd expect. Curiosity only. If I didn't get mine for free, I'd feel ripped off. I still haven't watched the VCD copy of Naked Gun 2 1/2 I got with it.
The TG-16 CD was really the only first gen CD console that did it right. Even the FMV games (e.g. Sherlock Holmes) were pretty good.
