Sega's Japanese advertising was great! Even the DC ones with the restless Mr Sega were miles better than the NA adverts.

The Best Sega advertizement of all time was the final Segata Sanshiro commercial with the terrorist trying to blow up Sega HQ.Pulsar_t wrote:Sega's Japanese advertising was great! Even the DC ones with the restless Mr Sega were miles better than the NA adverts.
Also, before I clicked the link above I just knew it would have the angry black guy in there.

The "It's thinking" always sounded like "It's Stinking" to mePulsar_t wrote:But.. It's thinking!Sadly even the Dreamcast campaign was in shambles too. Never trust SoA to market Sega products!

Red is the color the human eye is drawn to most readily. Red is an excellent color for packaging because it draws the eye and incites aggression.
And the Genesis was sold as an aggressive system.

Re: A traitor in SEGA HQ
I've never understood why people say that SoA had weak advertising... they had fantastic advertising! It worked. Sega actually got above Nintendo for some time as a result of the success of Sonic the Hedgehog, EA Sports, Mortal Kombat with blood, and the Sega Scream. I honestly don't remember ever seeing a Saturn commercial on TV, though. The worst is when people say that the Dreamcast had bad advertising, which I'll never understand. I remember those commercials fondly! They were all over MTV and Comedy Central; and the "It's Thinking" campaign really did stick in people's heads. All my friends knew that I loved Sega (which they didn't understand at first, because they knew that the Genesis was very old, and they simply didn't acknowledge the Saturn), and they would say that slogan to me sometimes after the Dreamcast came out. My friends thought I was some sort of profit because while they would debate, "What's better, PlayStation or Nintendo?" I would always say "Sega's the best." to which they'd raise their eyebrows and call me an idiot. Then the Dreamcast came and steam-rolled over everything, and my friends were just shocked. They thought I'd predicted the future, because here they were, months later, getting their little minds blown away by Sega; who is the best, of course.
