It's funny, I'm a big wrestling fan. Yet the few wrestling games I've played haven't blown me away. The N64 games are overrated and the Smackdown games that I played back on the Playstation and Playstation 2 were good, but always missing something. There was that fun Acclaim wrestling game, but it was just Mortal Kombat with wrestlers and only one character was actually good

I think wrestling is hard to capture perfectly in a game.

I have to agree that, other than the Fire Pro games and Legends-type games, WCW/nWo Revenge probably has the best roster of greats of any wrestling game. Virtual Pro 1 on the JP N64 is also quite good, as it has a lot of WCW wrestlers in addition to Japanese wrestlers. Virtual Pro 2 didn't use the WWF license they had at the time.

I guess all there is left is for me to download the official move guide for those games, any one can recommend a good place to do so?

I still prefer the CAW on those games as well.
I do in how they are much simpler, but, to be honest, it is better in most ways on the newer games. Your point about having 4 editable uniforms and being able to edit the entire roster is a good one. Still, this is not the main game. It's another bell and/or whistle.

So I have picked up some Raw vs. Smackdown titles after this thread to give them another shot and it just reinforced my opinion on No Mercy and it's CAW. I understand you think of the CAW as just a add on, but some of the main focus of these titles is playing through as a created character and No Mercy still blows these titles away in creating your own superstar. There are more options and it's easier to do. There are like 6 faces to choose from in one title I was playing. You can change features on these faces, but they still all end up looking just like the base face. So, you could spend hours adjusting noses, etc that really don't change a thing. The attire is very limited. There is a reason why they don't give you 4 editable uniforms. There aren't enough options to do it. The gameplay in these titles aren't that bad, but still not on par with No Mercy. So, overall I'm still going No Mercy 4 life, brother.

I wonder if there is a wrestling managing game instead of an action one, you know like Fifa football manager. Raw vs Smackdown 2007 had something similar built in, but still.

A friend of min once showed me a role playing wrestling game online but I lost its link.

I wonder if e-feds are still going on... they used to be something back then

Extreme Warfare revenge is what you're looking for.

I don't have an E-fed but I do have a not really real wrestling promotion I've written for 13 years. EWR makes booking it so much easier I don't have to write match details every week.

I'd skip straight to No Mercy on the N64 hands down the best wrestling game of the time. You need hundreds of hours unlocking all the characters by beating the right amount of royal rumbles with the right character on the right difficulty. You can unlock Andre the giant. You can experience the campaign which played some of teh recaps of the time. Fun as hell with friends of you have any interested, and best graphics for the time.

For today, I would go with WWE 13, really solid game which captures the glory of the attitude era, best wrestling campaign offered to date in my opinion.

Thanks I will check it out...

@TheVisualante

I am not too excited about WWE 13 , I currently hate the wrestling product on TNA or WWE . I really believe wrestling is at its lowest point (quality wise) in decades . I'd still enjoy something like Hogan vs CoCo Beware over the taste less characters today like Del Rio and Daniel Bryan . I really do not know their names , but that is a different story. But I will see the reviews... I was NOT happy with WWE 12 or the Smackdown series . The first didnt give much reason to play the Smackdown is about the same game since 2001 I'D say . But all stars was so much fun, even my none-wrestling fans friends got into the action because of its arcade style.

I don't blame you. I didn't like any of the recent games either and stopped really following WWE when Kane started acting all soft. But WWE 13, I think gameplay wise might be like WWE 12 but really what makes it even remotely attractive is its WWF attitude history lesson. It goes back to the days of D-generation X and the rivalries of Kane when he first appeared against The Undertaker. The inferno matches harcore matches all the sweet stuff. It even rewards you when you mimic certain aspects of the real matches which took place, like put him through announcer table, finish him off with tomb stone. It's really fun for that alone!
