This is the case on my MVS. The key is the same for the both locks.

Congrats on your purchase. I am sure you feel great about getting it for only $400. Question... does the coin mech still work and have its coin box? Thats the only thing mine didn't have setup (not that I really needed it for playing at home)

Awesome buy! From the pics you posted it looks pretty good overall, unless the side facing the wall is all messed up lol. I am always on the look out for an MVS on CL, the wife is already onboard, so when the right deal shows up, I should be able to snatch it up.

Edit:
Been meaning to find this out, but do the japanese MVS cabs have Sanwa style parts? All of the ones I have ever played on have terrible feeling Haap style sticks and buttons. If I were to get one I would want to swap them out, and I wonder if they fit ok, or is there any modification that is needed?

Yep, the coin mech works perfectly and I have the coin box. I need to replace the bulbs that illuminate the slots themselves, but that's no big deal.

So I took apart the main board and cleaned it out last night. I also did the battery mod to replace the old battery. It looked good, but I was still concerned about a 20 year old battery. After getting it all back together and powering it back on everything is working perfectly now. All four slots don't seem to be having any issues. I was very excited. I had a bit of a scare with the monitor where it looked like I had messed it up (The screen size had compressed and the v-size controls wouldn't do anything), however I was able to mess with it and get that fixed too.

I then played Bust a Move and Metal Slug until about 1am.

I absolutely love this thing. Easily one of my favorite purchases in a long time.

Oh wow that's great. The coin mech on my Mortal Kombat II cab is completely missing. The lock on the coin door is broken too, so it just kinda swings around on its own, really annoying.

Seimitsu parts are stock on the Neo Geo candy cabs.

Are you asking if you can fit Japanese parts in an American control panel?
It's been done. I believe you can fit a JLF just by using a JLW mounting plate.
They make extended shafts and even bat tops to get the "best of both worlds."

And I once saw a picture of a guy who installed Seimitsu buttons in his big red by banging them in with a rubber mallet  I wouldn't recommend that, though. He's going to have a bitch of a time replacing those buttons eventually.

I put the convex Competition pushbuttons in my Big Red as they were the closest I could find to that fast Japanese button "feel" while still being 28mm.

I guess that was worded poorly, it was really 2 different parts. I was first curious if the japanese version of the MVS had Sanwa/Seimitsu parts. And when I finally get my own MVS (Big Red) will I be able to swap out the HAPP parts for Sanwa. Thanks for the answers though, you figured out what I meant lol.

I just replaced my buttons the other night with those and they're great. They're very clicky and feel fantastic. I went with the competition joysticks as well and they're MUCH better than the stock ones that were in there.
