Wii Xenoblade Chronicles - $40.49 GamestopOh yeah! Bought a CIB in pristine condition, discounted with the Gamestop Rewards card. Well, the Nintendo Club Points was gone, but it is a used copy. The manual and even the ad flyer is still inside though.
I have held off buying this in the past since I'm not big on RPGs. Due to the getting scarcity and all the good talk about the game decided to finally take the plunge. The best price seemed to be Gamestop, but even there it is getting difficult to find.
I searched Gamestop online and only found three stores with the game in stock. Not wanting to take a chance and making an employee aware for a self purchase, I DID NOT TELEPHONE. After all, Xenoblade is commanding high prices online. I went to one location and could not find the game, even though the online site showed it in stock.
CRTGAMER: "Looking for Xenoblade"
EMPLOYEE looks in drawer: "Can't find it, let me check the other stores"
While the employee was doing the phone calls I looked twice in the Wii new and used games rack to no avaiI.
EMPLOYEE after looking and calling: "One store has it reserved and the other store only has the disc"
Oh crap, maybe I should have called that other store earlier? Or maybe the employee over there was keeping it for a personal purchase? I then found the case with manual displayed on a separate Top Sellers rack. The employee was busy with another customer, but I really wanted this game. I called back to the 3rd store myself with my cell that had the game disc only and asked them to set it aside.
CRTGAMER: "I found the case! I called back to the other Gamestop already to hold Xeonoblade for me. I'll take this case and buy the disc from the other store."
EMPLOYEE: "Oh I just remembered, here is the game stuck behind a box on the counter. Maybe the game was being held for someone who did not come in yesterday."
Yeah right! Strange that the game turned up immediately after I found the case stating that it was mine. Maybe the employee might have stashed the game for himself and realized he could not get the case since I already snagged it?
I courtesy called back to the disc only store and let them know I just bought it. Just to play it safe, I asked the other store to hold it the rest of the day in case mine was defective. The disc is Dual Layer which might make it more prone to not being read on the Wii. The employee there stated no problem, would hold until the next morning. The game I bought is pristine and played just fine.
After that mess, I am glad to buy a complete copy while I had the chance! Xenoblade Chronicles turns out to be very very good. Anyone who has not bought it should really give it a try, even if you can't stand RPGs.
