I never understood the zero looks like a girl jokes. He doesn't...at all. I just find those jokes rather dumb and immature and always have. He looks like your typical hyper stylized anime character. Would a normal guy have hair like that? Probably not, but how many people in real life would look like anime characters? It's just the way anime is. Zero just fits the style. To me, the hair is the equivalent of a super hero cape. That's not girly, that's badass. The cape like hair and light sabre makes him the most badass looking of all Mega Man protaganists...until the crappy redesign that made him look like a less cool looking version of X. Honestly, he looks more manly than most guys in Japanese video games, certainly more than a lot of those effeminate looking Final Fantasy characters or your run of the mill asexual looking anime characters. Seriously, the Zero is a girl jokes are lame...and have been done to death on top of that. Try something original guys
Anyway, with my little rant out of the way (Feel free to flame me for it if you want). Here's one more reason I like the X series:
You just don't see that level of badassery in classic Mega Man games. That harder edged, cyber punk vibe of the X series has always appealed to me. It's much more violent and that makes the stakes in that series feel higher. Side note, MMX games are so much more badass without the crappy english dubs

And for people who still think long hair is girly, I present you with this:
Go tell that guy he looks like a girl

Long-hair aside, he looks feminine, at least in the above pic he does. In the games, not so much, but then I don't think I've really seen him without his helmet in the games.

This thread needs more manliness, so I'm gonna stick this in here...
Re: Which Flavor of Mega Man do you prefer? Original or X?
I prefer the original series, mostly because I prefer those characters.
What I'd like to see is a game set in the original series, with that cast, with the gameplay of the X games (the faster pace and the wall jumping and such).
I just can't care about X and Zero when Mega Man, Proto Man, and Bass are running around being so damn awesome.
