Re: Inferior Saturn Ports
I think I read in an article on this site that the PS1 versions of Donpachi and Dodonpachi are better than Saturn versions.

You can hold down the A button while powering on the console and it will go to the menu without booting the game.ninjainspandex wrote:start the system without a game in it then insert the game and on the menu select the disc iconbryan_65 wrote:How do you boot in the bios screen?
Another trick I learned recently while reading the console manual: you can hold down the L or R button while powering on the console and it will go straight to the memory manager without launching the game.

Donpachi, yes. Dodonpachi is debatable at best, but imo the Saturn port is superior. Without diving into the subject again, since I am sure some of you have read my explanation to this several times, the ps1 port looks better, but the Saturn port plays better, especially when you take the game's strict scoring system into account.SaturnHST wrote:I think I read in an article on this site that the PS1 versions of Donpachi and Dodonpachi are better than Saturn versions.
What about the Konami shooters? Gradius Deluxe, Salamander Deluxe, Sexy Parodius? Usually people go for the Saturn ports, but I don't know if this is because the ports are better or not.
Re: Inferior Saturn Ports
In the Hunt seems to also boot with no controllers in. 2 tries in the bios screen still froze though. It was nice to play it after a couple of years.
Is there any copies that don't have the glitch and if so how do you spot them?

Re: Inferior Saturn Ports
just curious about the In the Hunt booting issues.. is this an issue with the NA release specifically? I only have the JP version and it never gave me any issues.

I've only heard about it for the Japanese Version.valgalder wrote:just curious about the In the Hunt booting issues.. is this an issue with the NA release specifically? I only have the JP version and it never gave me any issues.

I've never owned the US version. I've experienced the problems with the Japanese version.
I had a copy that would not boot on ANY Saturn console. The disc wasn't really scratched up either. The people who bought these back in the day must have been ****ed.
