Thanks for the warm wishes. I am lucky they focused on the bedroom they were looking for gold and cash. The medicine cabinet was open in the en-suite so they may have been looking for drugs as well.

The living room was unscathed, although they moved the couch to look behind the curio cabinet with the consoles and saw the tangled web of wires and just said fuck it. They stole all cables to go with the handhelds and PS3, easier time selling them I guess.

Morale of the story keep your cables in a mess!

Sounds like they knew what they were after. Is there anything you can think of that might've tipped off some would-be thieves?

I'm not really sure, I don't have undesirables over and for the most part I keep to myself. It is very odd since we are in a condo and on the 3rd floor. Since they were pro's maybe they did their research and watched the building and we were just unlucky. This experience is really making us take a step back and watch what we do in our day to day lives. :(

Building management says they had some sort of lock tool.

*Edit* I am very sorry to hear about your break in! That fucking sucks dude! I have the same fear about that happening to me one day so its very sad to see its happened to someone else here on the forum. I really hope the insurance takes care of you and your loss is recuperated with a fat check.

Indeed. Third floor means a slower getaway which means more hassle and more time to be spotted carrying goods. Is this an arrangement where maintenance people have access to your place? Obviously they broke in, but if maintenance people alerted 'friends' that your place was ripe with stuff. Or does the arrangement of windows light up inside during the day where people might see in, or did you leave blinds open at night? Looks like people might be able to see the TV mounted above the fireplace in through the window and assume you had good stuff. Or could people have seen in from the other patios? Just trying to decipher how your place was chosen. :(

do you have friends and family that can check stores around your neighborhood?

eventually that stuff does reach pawnshops and flea markets.

surely, one of the thieves is an idiot and will try to sell it to gamestop?

also check online on eBay and Craigslist to see if something similar pops up.

I also suspect that it's an inside job. sometimes neighbors can be suspects too. obviously they won't steal from you, but they can always call friends to do the thieving. And they get to act all innocent. neighbors do know when you are or arent home.

it's a double edged sword, some neighbors are awesome and some can be assholes.

Do you have any definite way of identifying your stuff? Like you put the receipts inside them? A similar thing happened to my manager at Gamestop. He got a ton of his game stolen. The reason they were able to catch the guys is because he had been storing his receipts inside his games. And lucky for him the thieves brought all the games to Gamestop to trade in. They got busted so bad.

Great point Cabron. Start checking those places every day if you can.

^ There are some great ideas above. Try to catch those thieving low lifes.

So none of your other major game collections we touched? Did they get the PS3, SNES, PS1 or any other really important games in particular? Also what area do you live in Vancouver? I work from home and usually have some free time each day. I'd be willing scan craigslist and ebay for big lots of games in the area over the next week or two for you.
