Re: Metal Heads Assemble!!
Can anyone here recommend any good Djent? Or, any good songs by Meshuggah?
I'm attempting to get good on an 8 string guitar, but it seems like 9/10 people just chug away on the lower strings, and don't use the extra range for anything interesting.
I love Animals as Leaders, and the latter Deftones albums have some cool 8-string work, but other than that I can't find anything that I like.

Aha! Speaking of Turisas, they are putting on a show in March here. I'm so excited! Going to go with a longtime friend of mine to see it!
And its at the White Rabbit, so if worse comes to worse, I'll have a good "Yeah, I got shot in High School" story.

"Djent" has never interested me much but try Veil of Maya, Periphery, Vildhjarta and The HAARP Machine. I've seen all but Vildhjarta (by far my favorite) live, and can confirm that they can play

Black DSi, Pink GBC, Softmodded Wii, Softmodded Fat Ps2, Black Gamecube, Xbox, Dreamcast, Ps1 Slim, Atomic Purple GBC, Onyx GBA SP, Gears of War 3 Edition Xbox 360 Slim, PSP 3000, NES.

Blah, its hard to find Folk metal without hokey vocals... shrieking is also there in some, and I want to love it but can't.
Just going to have to spend more time researching.

Re: Metal Heads Assemble!!
Bit of bumping... I think I've found my favorite metal niche: DOOM.
Right, so, any recommendations? So far I've liked Electric Wizard, St. Vitus, Trouble, Reverend Bizarre, and a couple of others. I'm not looking for anything particularly slow, just something that pulls that mellow yet heavy and dark feeling. I especially like the stuff that sounds 70's style/"retro". I'm perfectly fine with stoner stuff, that works too. Or Psychedelic.
Also, anything that would fit into funk/psychedelic/stoner/country-rock stuff would be recommended, but more appropriate for PM. (I know Blue Cheer, Cream, etc.)

Oh, Sleep is worth checking out if you're into EW.
IDK I have a friend really big into Doom, but other than a few of the really big/obvious stuff (stuff you listed, Candlemass, Solitude Aeturnus kinda), I'm not super duper into it.

I've been into the Death stuff for so long, this just clicked and I love it. I've slightly been moving away from most death, and this is my main push. I'm still cool with some thrash/death, and melodeath and such, but overall Death just quit working. (I'm also safe to allow my Ipod to be on shuffle in the presence of the teenage girls that might listen in with me.

I don't think I've ever seen you talk about a dm band that I'm actually into.
