It is sorta funny that OOT can be beaten in like 11 minutes if you use a weird glitch. They should be counted as a seperate thing though.
For whatever reason, it seems like non-tool assisted, non-glitch abusing straightforward actual speed runs are very rare.
Why do people watch Game Streams?

Yup, but these people think they are so awesome for knowing where these glitches originated from, and how to do them, or how theoretically if they could do such glitch it could make the game X amount of seconds shorter, glitches were cool when i was 12 and you couldnt just go on the internet and look them up.

A lot of those glitches are incredibly hard to do, much more so than any parts in the game proper. Especially ones that are 1 frame or need to be pixel perfect.
I can understand how someone could dislike them, but taking the time to play a game legitimately misses the point. Speed running a game is trying to break it as much as you can to beat it as fast as possible. It relies on doing things the developers never intended and abusing them to your advantage. Besides the sub communities that are dedicated to a single game put in mindbogglingly amounts of time into them to find these glitches and practice runs. They don't just look them up on gamefaqs and go do a WR run.
Personally, I find it interesting to watch and hear about the history of how the glitch was found, and the mechanics at play behind it and thought the any % OoT run Cosmo did was one of the high points of the AGDQ stream. But to each their own, I suppose.
Edit: On topic of game streams, the only ones I watch regularly are fighting game tournaments, and the odd QL tourneys that are still around. But to me those are more akin to watching a football or baseball game, except I can mute the crowd.

I still dont and wont accept it as an official speed run, i get much enjoyment watching speed runs done legitly, so i can compare to it, glitches hard or not, they were never meant to be and if console games were like PC games, they would be patched, because the developers never wanted it there in the first place.

Here's the video if anyone wants to see how a "pro" beats a game with super hard to do glitches!, id say this guy is wasting time, but apparently its justified.

I don't quite understand the glitch. Does it use some glitch involving the GBA link?

Re: Why do people watch Game Streams?
Well i watch streams once in a while and they are fun to watch depending of the game and the comentator. Sometimes you can see a diferent way of playing the game that you finished before.
In the speed run part i prefer more the "legit" speed run where you use your skill to beat the game faster and not your skill on glitching the game. Super Metroid and DKC 2 are some games were i try to beat myself on time/% of the game/etc and are fun to watch.

Re: Why do people watch Game Streams?
There are a few reasons why I watch game streams. The first is to get a feel for a game that I am interested in, but do not want to commit to paying for it until I am sure. Sometimes there are actually endearing personalities who are funny, or interesting (not veyr many..but they do in fact exist).
I also watch for the game competitions like SFIV AE, VF5 FS....mostly fighting games and TF2 competitions. When you get into the information streams, they can be incredibly helpful in understanding how a game works and how to improve...especially in the fighting game genre.
