castle crashers- best way to gain levels? *minor spoils*
castle crashers- best way to gain levels? *minor spoils*
so I'm at level 42 when i beat the game. I'm trying to max out at least one guy so I can beat a couple of the arenas that i can't win at yet to unlock a few more playable characters. What is the best way to gain levels in this game?
i have the animal orb that helps you gain levels faster. I am pretty much just fighting the toolbox artist over and over. He is pretty easy and gives you a good amount of cash and health after you win so it can happen infinitely. Is there a better way than this? Anyone have a better method?

When you fight the cat you can use the boomerang to get a ton experience. Just throw the boomerang behind him and try to get it so it can't come back to you until the cat moves out of the way.

Fighting the paintings is one of the best ways, as you already know.
The cat exploit is fine, but it is much easier to do on the bat. The only trouble is that you have to beat a bunch of puddles first.
And remember, of course, playing in insane mode will get you MANY more times the XP.

Careful, exit out to the map before the catfish is dead or move your character so the boomerang stops hitting him. Otherwise, there's a chance the game will glitch and your screen will go nuts and you won't see anything. Some claim this can erase your data though it hasn't occurred to me. It's still a nuisance having to go back to the dashboard though since the game becomes unviewable.
Also, the boomerang trick works on the barbarian boss if you're starting the game with a fresh character.
I've been having some trouble with the troll boss on insane mode. I'm going to try again at some point with some different strategies. Would be nice to get my characters quickly to the catfish and bat bosses on insane so I could level up faster

yeah- my stats are maxed out and i still have trouble with insane mode. Its those fucking guys with arrows. I can't start a combo on them because i always get shot in the back. the only thing i can do is run around spamming magic or doing the dash attack.Gamerforlife wrote: I've been having some trouble with the troll boss on insane mode. I think there is very little chance (for me anyway) of beating insane mode alone. The game really is set up for multiplayer, especially since the number of enemies does not increase with more players. (Actually, I wish it did scale a little bit)
I'm past the parade, but I will probably go no further without continually using 5 potions for every level.

Yeah, I think insane mode is meant to encourage multi-player. Plus, it actually gives you something to do with high level characters who can plow through everything on normal. I think with three or four people who are pretty good at the game and have some fairly high level characters, insane would be quite reasonable. Four people with good character combinations and teamwork on insane mode and you'd probably be experiencing the game the way it's meant to be played.Doctor Fugue wrote:I think there is very little chance (for me anyway) of beating insane mode alone. This game turned out better than I expected. The Behemoth surprised me. They've blown Alien Hominid right out of the water with this game in my opinion

yeah- i wasn't really a fan of Alien Hominid. I downloaded the demo, but never picked it up. It seemed really really difficult.Gamerforlife wrote:This game turned out better than I expected. The Behemoth surprised me. They've blown Alien Hominid right out of the water with this game in my opinion
