Turbo Grafx CD and Super System Card 3.01 Question.

Post by Zevin_Mars »

Ok, so I bought a box of Turbo Grafx stuff from a guy at work for $100, and it came with a Japanese Street Fighter game with a Kisado Adapter. So, I plan on getting the CD add on soon and I was wondering, I know the US release of Super System Card 3.01 is a pricey item, but I find the Japanese ones for a fraction of the cost all the time.

Can I get a Japanese Super System Card 3.01, use the adapter, and play my Super CD games like normal on the US system?

I haven't used such an arrangement myself, so I can't say with absolute certainty, but it should work just, yes.

One of my setups is this one that you mention.
Except for your Kisado adapter, I have the Mirai version.
Everything works just fine.

BTW, great price for the converter being part of the $100 you paid.
Usually the converter alone can fetch that much.

That's fantastic, turns out I've actually got the Mirai version as well, I was mistaken and thought Kisado was just a generic slang term for the converter. I didn't know they went for so much, the guy I bought this from didn't even include the converter with the price, he just charged for the system and the games that came with, so I guess this turned into one of those great finds that don't come around very often.

As long as you have a converter, the JPN cards work in US systems just fine. The minor revision differences seem to have no practical implications other than the basic localization info.
