I actually liked Twilight Princess, but I figure it's for different reasons than most people. I had a tendency to grab my horse and then go fight Moblins...in fact, I beat the game, but that was the part I enjoyed the most. Fighting on horseback was a lot of fun for me. Unfortunately beyond that...it's actually a rather forgettable game. I mean, seriously, I liked it and I beat it, but I hardly remember it. Heck, sometimes I forget it came out at all. I'll actually have to remind myself that Windwaker wasn't the last Zelda on a Nintendo console(not counting handhelds, of course).
I will defend its graphical style on one point, though. Both Zelda and Link's Adventure were pretty brown to me...
Am I the only one who thought that Zelda TP sucks?

hahahahha nice one mate. Though Link's Awakening DX is actually pretty colorfull. hahaha. and yeah I've seen that site and I agree.
Is it just me or is the gaming community, actually starting to be bothered of the brown age of gaming, in mass numbers?

I think a lot of people are starting to get turned off by it. I know it's a common complaint raised in Zero Punctuation reviews. I think a lot of the brown has come about from the more realistic graphics we can do on a console, and as a result the artists seem to be using more brown, as I guess that's what is actually out there in the world.ZeroAX wrote:Is it just me or is the gaming community, actually starting to be bothered of the brown age of gaming, in mass numbers?
Personally for me, I've found all the 3D Zelda overworlds to be pretty forgettable. In the 2D Zeldas, because they were tile based (aside from LttP), and it felt like every screen had a purpose of some kind. LttP had a similar feeling of a large number of unique areas. The 3D Zelda overworlds, though, feel like a means to get to the end of a village or a volcano or the lake. I think having such a large overworld is necessary if you want to have a boat or a horse being integrated into the gameplay, but it means you care less about what you travel through on your way to a destination.

Yeah. But imo windwaker's islands were a missed oportunity. had they made the islands bigger and with more secrets it would have been a great world map. and about the brown thing..... how come I don't see brown in real life so much mate? They make even plants brown ffs.

It doesn't suck. It plays well. It's just not up to the hype that people put into it. I had fun playing it.

We talking about Zelda TP or Spore?D.D.D. wrote:It doesn't suck. It plays well. It's just not up to the hype that people put into it. I had fun playing it.
I think it really helps to develop a sense of seeing things in a vacuum. In a vacuum, Godfather 3 is a good movie. It just isn't as good as the first two, so it gets unfairly put down.

Re: Am I the only one who thought that Zelda TP sucks?
Yeah you are right. But my main problem with this game (and franchise in general) is that fellow nintendo fanboys are so narrow minded that they can't see it's faults and can't accept that people might not like it's repetetive gameplay. Mario has never gone more than 2 games in a row with same gameplay (super mario bros 1+2 (the japanese game at least) played the same but then super mario bros 3 and world played differently to the 2 before, after that mario 64+sunshine and now mario galaxy.) but zelda is the same for the last 4 games with only windwaker doing it differently. There's a reason movies with many sequels end up sucking. People get bored of the same concept. Now gaming is more about the imagination so they can make games feel new, even if it has some pieces repeat themselfs. But zelda TP just felt too much like been there done that.
(yeah it's not a bad game but from the Wii launch line up I still think Excite Truck was the best and after that wii sports)

Yes! Finally, someone who can see past the whole cel-shading thing [which was actually still very cool], and see that Wind Waker was a great game! Thank you so, so much.Bootaaay wrote:I didn't really enjoy it, but then again the only 3d Zelda i've really enjoyed (and would consider on par with the 2d ones) is Wind Waker :p
Now, I didn't hate Twilight Princess, but it certainly didn't measure up to other games in the series. I don't know why I don't like it, either. I just... don't. I get a little feeling in the back of my mind saying that it's just not great. Sorry, Nintendo, and better luck next time; we're all waiting anxiously.
