New (to me) Saturn... wth is up w power cord?
So I scored a new, to me, Sega Saturn on eBay and the power cord is seriously like 18" long. Is that normal? Can I buy a longer power cord? I keep my systems in an enclosed cabinet to limit dust, and there's no way I can do so with this midget sized power cord!

That's definitely not normal, no. Usually around 5-6' long.

Same cord as DC if you have one of those or you can get a new, appropriately sized one for $2-3 just about anywhere online.

PS2 power cord should also work.mjmjr25 wrote:Same cord as DC if you have one of those.[..].

yup, the cord is pretty much universal with a ton a devices including cable boxes, dvd players, the dreamcast and ps2. You can even buy one here on racketboy! Racketboy PS2 Universal AC Adapterpierrot wrote:PS2 power cord should also work.mjmjr25 wrote:Same cord as DC if you have one of those.[..].

Re: New (to me) Saturn... wth is up w power cord?
Umm, my PS2 Fat has a power chord like this...
And IIRC, my Saturn and/or Dreamcast have one like this...
The PS2 one is keyed (has a square side) so you can only plug it in one way (polarity). The other one can be plugged in either way. I guess if the "universal" one works on the PS2, then polarity doesn't matter. But then why would Sony give it a keyed plug?
But don't even fiddle around with that nonsense... you mean to tell me you don't have one of these lying around the house?

If not, just about any store in the USA carries such an extension chord. Drug stores, supermarkets, department stores, hardware stores, dollar stores, etc.

Actually Sega did change the Saturn power jack at some point.

Re: New (to me) Saturn... wth is up w power cord?
Ziggy587 is right but the cord that racketboy sells in the non-squared end version which is more universal and will still work in keyed ports like the ps2 or the US saturn.

The Japanese Saturn and Dreamcast have the rounded plug on both sides. US have the fat PS2's keyed input.Ziggy587 wrote:And IIRC, my Saturn and/or Dreamcast have one like this...
