Seriously. What if I'm in the middle of gameplay, and I need to look at the instructions for an explanation on how to pull off a certain move, or what a certain item does?

And it just feels like I'm getting ripped off.

More than in other regions apparently. NA region isn't getting the PS2 release, and XI in general was never released for PS2 in the EU.

It is the first expansion/add-on that the NA PS2 users haven't been able to get though, which does force them to swap to 360 or PC if they want it.

Technically, retail support for the NA PS2 version hasn't been there for a while. The last edition of the game released here for the PS2 was in 2007...but all the add-ons since then have been direct digital deals. More or less, content that you'd download as part of the updates anyway, and just pay to unlock (since it's mostly been reusing existing areas/models anyway).

The PC and 360 are both getting a new collected edition alongside the expansions. It'll be the first new retail version for the 360 since 2009. What does make me wonder a little is that the PC releases are going to be digital only, just like the most recent collected version was. It's not like they need a physical release. I'd kind of think it's not necessarily SE's decision to not support the PS2 here, but Sony's.

Here's an interesting one --

I was watching the latest Chrontendo video on Youtube today, and they covered a Japanese baseball game on the Famicom that was by Jaleco but this particular title wasn't localized as one of the 4 Bases Loaded games. I thought back to the SNES and how I played Super Bases Loaded quite a bit as well as the ton of baseball games that got released for that. I also came to the realization that while many of them were officially licensed, all the games that were either carried an MLB or MLBPA license, but not both. In this day and age where *every* realistic sports game has any and all licenses that are necessary, we didn't have that luxury years ago.

Here was a list of the SNES baseball games that had either license I made up -- not conclusive but pretty darn close.

MLBPA (Players) license:
Hardball III
Super Bases Loaded III
Sporting News Power Baseball
Tecmo Super Baseball
MLBPA Baseball
Frank Thomas' Big Hurt Baseball
Super Batter Up
Super RBI Baseball

MLB (Teams) license:
Both Ken Griffey Jr games by Nintendo
ESPN Baseball Tonight

Figures the better games had the players, right?

After getting a chance to play some games online for the first time, I've made some interesting observations. It seems that older games, Battlefield 1942 for example, are full of extremely sharp players with no patience for noobs. I got kicked out of a match for sucking. Players of newer games that have still been out for a year or two, like Bad Company 2, tend to be very good at the game but much more patient with new players. And COD players aren't very good at online multiplayer. MW3 is pretty easy online.

^ That's what got me into CS finally. Matchmaking, along with the fact that it's new so everybody is learning the ins and outs, has lead to quite a bit less douchebaggery.

My JP game for DOS comes today. Once I beat it, I think I might do a write up. Maybe even a video.
