I bought tons of vinyl in college. I still buy some, but new vinyl has become prohibitively expensive, at least around me. Fortunately, my current tastes have led me to exploring a lot of 50s and 60s pop, and those records are dirt cheap used.

Since entering the vinyl scene last year it really has been an experience on how much certain records go for. I picked up a near mint Iron Butterfly album for 5 dollars but a pink floyd album(not even a good one) will fetch close to $40? They sold millions of copies back in the day with tons of albums out but now they are worth $40 a piece? I guess if people didn't buy them they wouldn't sell that much but that doesn't make any less ridiculous

Yeah, a lot of stores really jack the prices on bigger bands, especially if it's an import.

I collected the most records between '04-'06, because new albums on vinyl were cheaper than CDs (about $12), but now they cost about $20! I don't care if it's 210-gram vinyl, that is highway robbery.

I take solace in knowing that my parents are great music lovers, and had the good sense to pick up stuff when it was new.

I'd love to get into vinyl, unfortunately most stuff I'd really be interested in picking up is way too pricey.
