Franchises you want Nintendo to bring back.
Re: Franchises you want Nintendo to bring back.
Mole Mania. A top-down puzzle for the Game Boy. It's one of Miyamoto's most obscure creations. Completely overshadowed by the first Pokémon titles.

During the 6th generation of gaming, there were lots of rumors going around that Nintendo would be going software only. It got to the point where one of the executives finally commented on it and said something to the extent of "if we go software only, there will not be any new Zelda's or Mario's." Though they are huge money making properties, you have to remember that Nintendo is a very traditional Japanese company. So they will not "dishonor" their flagship series by letting them so up on other consoles.
Seconded

I remember "The day we stop making consoles is the day we stop making games."
Despite what they've said though, I imagine if Nintendo was hurting so much financially that they pulled out of the console market, they'd probably end up going 3rd party anyway. It's pretty damn unlikely for Nitnendo to go under that badly though. People just love to cry Nintendoomed every time they have a slip in sales.

Deep down inside me I want Nintendo to come back on top and be the synonymous name with videogames . People here used to call videogames "Atari" , not sure if there was a time where they called it Nintendo but they might as well have, and now its called Playstation .
I want Nintendo to go neck to neck with PS and Xbox , and produce new franchises. Its 2013 not 1985 any more. The only franchise I can see working in today's world is Zelda . The children customer base Nintendo is depending on are getting into iPhone/iPod/iPads , they are extremely popular with younger crowd. Those devices did not exist when the Wii was launched.
Even Disney let go of Mickey Mouse , Nintendo might want to learn from that. It will not affect them now, but by 2016 they will regret it .New IPs is the way to go , or if they are into money making only, this will sound crazy but.... how about turning into software company like Sega and release their library to PSN , iOS , and Xbox. We all know that will make them a ton more money than just depending on their own console.
My point of view about franchises and Nintendo.
I'm sorry but you don't have any idea what you're talking about here.

Agreed. Mole Mania is a great game, and it is largely unknown. (It was one of the "editor's picks" for the "Greatest Games of All Time" list in EGM 150, however.)

Re: Franchises you want Nintendo to bring back.
Chalk me up for a new F Zero, especially in full HD at 60fps?
As far as any other series I can't think of too many others. I'd rather have them try something new instead of rehashing the past.

Starfox damnit! Should be amazing on the Wii U
Put the next damn Mario or Zelda game on hold and give us another great rail shooter with a soundtrack to rival the original Super Nintendo game!
I also want to say Pikmin, but I think that's already coming

Re: Franchises you want Nintendo to bring back.
I would normally complain that I want a new console Fire Emblem, but I'm quite curious to see this Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem that was just announced.
Pokemon Snap coming back in some way would be fantastic.
Not so much franchises that I want back, but franchises I want to see on home consoles instead of (or as well as) portables would be a traditional Pokemon title and the Professor Layton series. Professor Layton in particular could be so amazing on the Wii U.

Re: Franchises you want Nintendo to bring back.
Metroid.
Guess it hasn't been too long... but it's still been awhile since Metroid Prime 3 came out. I heard rumors of some other title that came out between then and now, but who knows. Hopefully Samus makes a comeback.
Sadly I think all the Prime devs are within other companies now though, but I have to figure Retro still has a lot of A+ staff onboard that could easily do another Metroid.
But yeah F-Zero and Star Fox, come on.
I'm also still waiting for Diddy Kong Racing 2.
