So JJ Abrams is going to direct the new Star Wars. This means 2 possibilities:
1. MASSIVE lens flare from light sabers.
2. Damon Lindelof could possibly write it, with this new trilogy ending with everyone holding hands and moving on to Force Heaven.
What was the last movie you've seen?

Hey Luke remember when I said I thought Abrams would be a good fit?
I think Abrams will do a good Star Wars. Certainly better than George did on any of the prequel movies. As long as someone keeps the lens flares in check...

Wrong.Gamerforlife wrote: It's a good martial arts movie ...
...It's worth seeing, but overrated
And...wait for it...
Wrong.
LINCOLN is overrated. RAID takes your expectations, eats 'em, and pisses them in your face (in a good way)*. It over delivers on everything it didn't even promise.
Hasn't been confirmed.AppleQueso wrote:Hey Luke remember when I said I thought Abrams would be a good fit?
Could happen, but Kurtzman hasn't said a word.
* I have no idea what that means.

I will say it's better than Ong Bak but I still liked Dredd much more.EvilRyu2099 wrote:Is The Raid is good as Ong Bak?

Everything is better than Ong Bak 2...noting is better that The Protector (which, BTW, features the most bad ass tracking shot of all time...).indecks wrote:EvilRyu2099 wrote:Is The Raid is good as Ong Bak?

Chocolate (2008) is twice the movie Ong Bak is. Ip Man 1, Ip Man 2, Fearless, Sha Po Lang, and Shaolin are just a few movies off the top of my head that are better than the Raid: Redemption. I want to say The Man from Nowhere too, but mostly for the story and its fantastic lead characters. It has some fantastic action moments, but they generally take a backseat to the story
The Raid is something of a mindless action fest with an unsatisfying story. Plus, half the movie's action scenes are just people shooting each other rather than awesome martial arts fights. The ending sucks too. The movie is fun though, but ultimately forgettable. It has great action, but nothing truly classic, and the story just sort of goes nowhere. The Raid is a nice cheeseburger, but not a filet mignon. The hype surrounding it baffles me as much as the hype surrounding Xenoblade

Well hang on now... you're comparing the Raid to stuff like Ip Man. That's apples and oranges. They aren't the same type of martial arts movie. I wouldn't even really consider The Raid a martial arts movie. I guess by strict definition it is, but its really more of an action orgy. Ip Man 1, 2 and Shao Lin are closer in relation. Sha Po Lang/Killzone is an action movie. I actually didn't love Sha Po Lang, and to be honest, I'd probably marry Donnie Yen if he proposed, and I'm straight.
Ip Man should be compared to stuff like Hero, or Fist of Legend. I actually kinda view Ip Man as a 'newer version' of Jet Li's Fist of Legend. Both are ridiculously awesome.
But the Raid is really more of a balls out action story with elements of martial arts and it doesn't take itself too seriously. I think that's what makes it work. It just presents itself as an orgy of bullets and fists.
I disagree. I watched most of Chocolate and I ended up turning it off. I found it kind of boring. Ong Bak is way more fun than Chocolate and I agree with whoever said Protector is awesome. That tracking shot is unbelievable.Gamerforlife wrote:Chocolate (2008) is twice the movie Ong Bak is.

RAID: THE REDEMPTION is awesome put on screen. And two words:
Mad Dog.
Every movie should have one.
